Betcha has Wyong Gold Cup tips and predictions for the listed feature race this Friday.
Wyong Gold Cup odds are available for the $200,000 race on Wyong’s biggest meeting of the year.
Eliyass heads into the Wyong Gold Cup off the back of a confidence-boosting victory in the Premier’s Cup, a race that can often provide a useful pointer towards this feature.
The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding showed a sharp return to form with that success, and he’s a horse who can be particularly hard to beat once his confidence is flowing.
The 7YO son of Le Havre has also had a recent hit-out at Hawkesbury, finishing third in a trial. That should have him nicely tuned for the Wyong Gold Cup, with Maher’s decision to give him the trial a positive for his fitness levels.
At $4.50, Eliyass is a good bet. Look for him to roll along in front and be tough to run down at the short Wyong straight.
Elliptical looks like he’s getting close to finding his best form for Chris Waller, who could have a very strong hand in the 2026 Wyong Gold Cup.
The 7YO Dundeel gelding has already banked more than $1.3 million, and while his recent results don’t jump off the page, there’s been enough in his runs in the Premier’s Cup and Prelude to suggest a win isn’t far away.
We wouldn’t be too concerned about his recent form. Elliptical is capable of much better, and his fourth in the Premier’s Cup Prelude was a solid enough effort. With two runs under his belt now, he should be ready to take another step forward.
He’s also with the right trainer in Waller, who prepared last year’s winner Saltcoats. Elliptical probably isn’t quite in that class, but this looks like a winnable race for him, and at $6, he’s worth including in Wyong Gold Cup predictions.
Trainer Kris Lees has a strong record in provincial cup races, so it’s easy to see why Age of Sail could be well-backed on race day.
The Frankel gelding hasn’t quite been able to produce the same form that saw him win early in his Australian career, but he has time to regain his best form.
His ninth in the Premier’s Cup Prelude behind Eliyass was disappointing on paper, but his best performances have come on provincial circuits, and he could keep Eliyass company near the lead.
He’s worth including in Wyong Gold Cup tips as a roughie hope.
Punters get value odds with our Wyong Gold Cup SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
We have Eliyass Top 2, Elliptical Top 3, and Age of Sail Top 4, which pays a healthy price at Betcha, and it’s worth including in picks for Friday’s race.
Our SRM odds get boosted from Age of Sail to finish in the Top 4, and the odds are worth taking early.
