Archie Wilson shares his picks and plays for Day 9 of the World Cup.
One of the hottest topics at the World Cup has been the host nation, USA, and their scintillating start to tournament action under their gaffer, Mauricio Pochettino. In their matchday one clash, the USA were outright dominant against Paraguay, which saw them win 4-1 on the day.
Outside of the USA, Australia have also put their hand up for the best start to the tournament, as they took Türkiye to the cleaners in a good old-fashioned counter-attacking clinic, led by their young star Nestory Irankunda, who bagged one of the best goals of the tournament.
This game feels like a huge opportunity for either side to really get a firm grasp on the pool, and while Australia really did impress me, I was pretty blown away by the performance of the USA, who I could see finding a way to win a close one here.
Tips
Best Bet: USA 2-1 @ $7.80
Best Goalscorer: Christian Pulisic ATS @ $2.70
Same Game Multi: USA To Win + Christian Pulisic ATS + Over 2.5 Total Goals @ $4.91
Another quality game is second on the day’s fixture list, as the team that has been in the news because of their outstanding supporters, Scotland, take on Morocco.
The African side have quickly become a world powerhouse and showed it in their opener, where they would be disappointed with a draw against Brazil. For Scotland, on the other hand, they have returned to the World Cup for the first time in a long time and currently sit atop the pool with their win against Haiti.
In this one, I would expect Scotland to be tested early and often by this Moroccan side, who are seen as favourites based on their excellent technical ability across the park, which I think might just be a bit much for Scotland to handle.
Tips
Best Bet: Morocco To Win @ $1.73
Best Goalscorer: Ismael Saibari ATS @ $2.80
Same Game Multi: Morocco To Win + Scott McTominay 1+ Shots On Target + Ayyoub Bouaddi 3+ Tackles @ $4.98
Now I preface this one by saying this is not the Brazil team that we are used to seeing on the world stage.
While they do have a couple of galactico wingers, the rest of the side is, dare I say it, lacking quality in every aspect compared to what we expect from the famous yellow jersey of Brazil.
Regardless of that, they still have a couple of those game changers in the likes of Vini Jr and Raphinha, which might be enough for them to really put this Haiti side to the sword, who in their opener were dominated by the USA.
Tips
Best Bet: Over 3.5 Total Goals @ $1.83
Best Goalscorer: Vinicius Junior ATS @ $1.75
Betcha Boost: Vinicius Junior to Score & Brazil to Win 3-0, 4-0 or 5-0 @ $4.50
The clash of the bottom two sides in Group D sees both teams needing to find their way back into this World Cup, and it just feels like, between the two sides, Türkiye have the conductors who could lead them to a win in this one.
Those two names are their young superstars who dominate the European club scene in Kenan Yildiz and Arda Guler. Maybe across the park they aren’t well balanced, but in a game where they take on Paraguay, the quality provided by those two could be enough to bounce back from their disappointing opening loss to Australia.
Tips
Best Bet: Arda Guler To Score Or Assist @ $2.10
Best Goalscorer: Kenan Yildiz ATS @ $3.40
Same Game Multi: Arda Guler To Score Or Assist + Turkiye To Win @ $2.87
