The Group 1 Memsie Stakes runs this Saturday at Caulfield, and we have a Memsie Stakes runner-by-runner analysis available.
The $750,000 feature has a quality field of champion thoroughbreds, and with Memsie Stakes odds are available for punters to enjoy.
Our form guide features a runner-by-runner guide, so punters can make an informed bet in the 1400m feature.
You can never completely dismiss Mr Brightside, especially at $10. The 9YO has won this race before and handles wet conditions, so while he has a tough task, he can still run well first-up. He’s worth including as a value chance in Memsie Stakes picks.

Jimmysstar has been well supported in the early betting and looks one of the main contenders. He’ll likely settle back before producing his usual strong finish, and the wet track shouldn’t be an issue. Hard to leave out as the current favourite, and his odds could firm on race day.
2. Jimmysstar (8) J: Ethan Brown 59kg 5342x T: Ciaron Maher
Tom Kitten looks likely to improve with the run. He has bigger targets ahead and may not be ready to produce his best effort first-up. He’s probably one to watch at $23, and we can’t entertain him at those odds.
3. Tom Kitten (1) J: Mark Zahra 59kg x117x T: Anthony & Sam Freedman
Buckaroo is an interesting outsider, but he could benefit from having a run under his belt. With bigger spring targets ahead, he’s unlikely to be fully wound up here. At $61, he’s a rough chance to win, and we’ll leave him out of our picks.
4. Buckaroo (10) J: Jye Mcneil 59kg 0x25x T: Chris Waller
Angel Capital has plenty of talent, and his first-up third behind Ninja was a solid effort. He should improve with that run and has enough ability to win this. The $5 quote is worth considering as he’s another runner who is often well-backed on race day. Punters just need him to behave and he should run well.
5. Angel Capital (5) J: Ben Melham 59kg 326×3 T: Chris Waller
Birdman has attracted some support at a decent price. He’s another Waller runner with bigger targets coming up, so a win would surprise, but he could finish strongly and sneak into the first-four with the right run in transit.
6. Birdman (4) J: Beau Mertens 59kg 1521x T: Chris Waller
The wide barrier is the obvious concern, but Cosmic Crusader has plenty of class and remains unbeaten at Caulfield. William Pike will need to work hard from gate 11, especially in the wet. He’s a winning chance, but $5 is a little risky given what he needs to overcome to win the race. Having Pike in the saddle helps though, and he’s riding well in Melbourne with Cosmic Crusader.
7. Cosmic Crusader (11) J: William Pike 59kg 12×11 T: Andrea Leek
Sabaj has a solid record with five wins from 12 starts, but this is a big step up. His best form has come in Group 2 and 3 races, so he’ll need to improve to win. The $41 makes him an interesting roughie.
8. Sabaj (12) J: Jamie Melham 59kg x244x T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr
Autumn Boy is one to keep safe after a strong 3YO campaign. He should continue improving as a 4YO and reportedly returns in good order. If he’s ready to fire first-up, $12 could be a good price, and his opening quote didn’t last long, so there is betting confidence.
9. Autumn Boy (3) J: James McDonald 58.5kg 3212x T: Chris Waller
Beiwacht bypassed the Winx Stakes and may be better suited here. His toughness should help, and the market has shown plenty of respect. He looks capable of being competitive, and he is a runner worth following for most of the spring, so why not start with the 2026 Memsie Stakes?
10. Beiwacht (7) J: Nash Rawiller 58.5kg 8261x T: Chris Waller
Planet Red didn’t get a great run last time, but he still has something to prove at this level. An easier race might suit him better, and although $35 is an appealing price, we need to see how he runs here before investing in him.
11. Planet Red (2) J: Blake Shinn 58.5kg x226x T: Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr
The defending champion deserves plenty of respect. Treasurethe Moment had a strong last preparation and looks a little underrated at $9. If she returns near her best, she should be right in the finish. Look for her to settle close to the speed and show her customary kick at the top of the straight.
12. Treasurethe Moment (6) J: Damian Lane 57kg x313x T: Matt Laurie
