What a weekend of NRL we have just witnessed! Major upsets, high scoring games and plenty of outstanding individual performances.
We are going to take a look at those performances and once again provide our Team of the Week.
Prop | Terrell May
The Tigers forward pack were at their dynamic best this weekend against the Knights, and one of the key reasons was Terrell May’s dominance, which included 224 metres gained, 35 tackles and a try.
Prop | Jackson Ford
Jackson Ford continues his dominance this season with his third inclusion on this list, as against the Storm he was superb. His trademark hard work was critical to the Warriors’ historic win against one of their biggest rivals, gaining plenty of metres and once again scoring a try.
Hooker | Soni Luke
Plenty of options at hooker this week, but I have landed on one of the key cogs in the Cowboys’ big win on Friday, Soni Luke. He was all over the park, making tackles, dictating play and, most importantly, getting over the line for his first try of the season.
Second Row | Jacob Preston
Jacob Preston was one of the key contributors to the Bulldogs’ massive upset win over the Panthers on Thursday night. The edge forward was all over the park, stuffing the stat sheet, making plenty of tackles, breaking the Panthers’ line and also scoring a try.
Second Row | Heilum Luki
On the other edge, we have Cowboys star forward Heilum Luki. Against the Broncos in their nail-biting win, Luki was outstanding, scoring his third try of the season while also doing plenty of the dirty work for his side.
Lock | Alex Twal
Another member of the Tigers pack who was critical to their performance against the Knights was Alex Twal, recording 42 tackles on the day as well as gaining 182 metres.
Half | Chanel Harris-Tavita
One of the biggest debates for the Warriors will be what happens when Metcalf returns, because for me CHT is the glue guy in the side. He is a monster defensively and always seems to make the right play, which we saw all Saturday night against the Storm, where his energy was infectious.
Half | Jayden Campbell
Jayden Campbell just continues on his tear since returning to the Titans starting line-up this season. He scored his second brace of the season, while also kicking his goals and gaining 205 metres against the Eels.
Centre | Tom Chester
The Cowboys have had some of the best production all year from their centres, and this week was no different as Tom Chester put in his best performance in the Queensland derby. Obviously scoring a try, but it was his eye-watering 245 metres gained that really stood out.
Centre | Latrell Mitchell
Latrell remains one of the most dominant forces in the NRL and, even in his side’s narrow loss to the Raiders, he was borderline unstoppable. Getting over the line for his sixth try of the season, while also recording a season-high number of broken tackles, showing he remains one of the hardest players to bring down in the league.
Winger | Sunia Turuva
After spending most of his season out of position in the centres, Sunia Turuva found his way to the wing this weekend and made the most of it against the Knights. He was dynamic with ball in hand and, after only scoring one try in his first four appearances, got over for a hat-trick.
Winger | Phillip Sami
Philip Sami was another winger who had a slow start to the season, and this week was one of the beneficiaries of the Titans’ dominance. He gained 245 metres with ball in hand and also scored a double in his best performance of the year.
Fullback | Keano Kini
Potentially the best individual performance of the season, Titans fullback Keano Kini was on an absolute heater, gaining 265 metres, breaking six tackles and recording three try assists in his side’s 52–10 win over the Eels.
