Top 5 Super Bowl Gatorade Showers

Top 5 Super Bowl Gatorade Showers

One of the most talked about stories from the Super Bowl has always been the Gatorade shower. Since 1987 Gatorade dumps have provided the perfect precursor to the Lombardi Trophy presentation. Only a small percentage of people will ever taste that kind of success.

In honour of this great tradition and for all the NFL nuffies out there, I’ve done a deep dive into the greatest Gatorade Showers of all time.

1. Bill Parcells – Super Bowl XXI (New York Giants v Denver Broncos)

There are two crucial elements to a successful Gatorade shower: surprise and creativity.

New York Giants linebacker Harry Carson had both when he dumped Bill Parcells in the dying stages of Super Bowl XXI.

Instead of ducking and hiding on the sidelines, Carson donned a yellow security jacket with cooler in hand to catch Parcells off guard.

The look on Parcells’ face is priceless.

2. Sean Payton – Super Bowl XLIV (New Orleans Saints v Indianapolis Colts)

Not the greatest shower in terms of execution, but this moment too beautiful to ignore.

For the most part, Gatorade showers are over and done once the head coach is completely drenched, but not in New Orleans.

The entire team chairing Sean Payton off the sidelines was something to behold, while the hip and shoulder from Jeff Charleston on some unsuspecting bald dude was also good for a laugh.

3. Bill Cowher – Super Bowl XL (Pittsburgh Steelers v Seattle Seahawks)

When the Steelers added their fifth ring to their collection head coach Bill Cowher threw his hands in the air to celebrate, only to cop a Gatorade bucket to the side of the head.

It’s one of the most memorable (and painful) showers we’ve seen.

4. Pete Carroll – Super Bowl XLVIII (Seattle Seahawks v Denver Broncos)

Seattle’s head coach Pete Carroll might be victim to one of if not the most perfect shower.

The accuracy, the splashback – this was a Gatorade dream!

With the clock winding down, Carroll copped another couple of dousings in celebration with his team.

5. Bill Belichick – Super Bowl LIII (New England Patriots v Los Angeles Rams)

The greatest coach of all time is no stranger to a Gatorade shower, but it’s not often he shows this kind of emotion.

The pour while being embraced in a bear hug meant Belichick had no chance of dodging this shower. 10/10
