It’s Kiwi Derby time here and boy am I looking forward to it!
A sold out Auckland supporters zone at Sky Stadium and some lovely weather on the way should make for a great game of football.
Four weeks in and both Kiwi teams are in the top four to add even more spice to the derby.
Derbies seem to be in the air because we’re heading to the Melbourne Derby for our best bet of the week, too. Let’s get into it!
Righto, here we go!
The first Kiwi derby of the season and it’s happening down at Sky Stadium in the capital.
Last year, this fixture finished 2-0 in favour of Auckland in what was a rather lackluster game. The following two derby games ended in a 2-1 win for the Black Knights, followed by a huge 6-1 win, completing the sweep. 10-2 on aggregate…
Now that they’ve got the first season out of the way, all that inaugural chat, nerves, etc.… Now I’m expecting a more competitive game, mainly pushed by the fact that the Nix don’t want to get embarrassed again.
They’ve had a decent start to the season, sitting in fourth, and the positive sign for the Nix is that they’re not giving up and they’re fighting for goals.
Auckland, as expected have been very good, sitting at the top of the ladder. They’ve conceded just one goal in three games and have two wins to their name.
Wellington has enough in their attack to keep the pressure on the Auckland backline and should be able to give the yellow fever something to cheer about.
Auckland will have something to cheer about, too. The Nix haven’t kept a clean sheet yet…
We’re heading to the Melbourne Derby for our best bet of the week.
Melbourne City have one win and two draws, and the Victory have one win, one draw and a loss.
In the last five meetings between these two, there have been three draws and a win each.
It feels very balanced, and it’s always tight, but Melbourne City have had the early edge in the early season and at above even money, I think it’s a great bet.
