It seems like we’re back to usual now that City is on top of the Premier League once again. Chasers Liverpool and Arsenal both have tough fixtures this week, both needing wins to keep this title race within reach.
Are we going to see a new look Man Utd this week? Red Devil fans will be hoping so as they host Chelsea at Old Trafford.
We’ve got Premier League action all weekend long and here are my best plays for the weekend.
The Gunners were extremely close to grabbing all three points against Liverpool last weekend. They’ll be hopeful they can have their key players return for this match-up, and if they do, they look like good value.
The Magpies are looking to break a streak of five winless games in the Premier League, they just beat Chelsea mid-week but at what cost? They had to play a near full-strength squad this morning which means less rest for this fixture at home.
The Cherries have knocked off Arsenal and held Villa to a draw, this week they’ll try their luck against the Citizens.
City’s historic run continues as they are now unbeaten in their last 32 league games and that should continue this week. They’ve never dropped points when facing Bournemouth winning all of their 14 games.
Haaland got himself back on the scoresheet and in a game where we’ve seen plenty of goals, I expect him to be involved in the action.
Two strikers have been in serious form for their team. Liam Delap for the Tractor Boys and Jamie Vardy for the Foxes. For The Foxes, they’ve enjoyed a couple of wins but the Tractor Boys are still winless despite scoring three last week.
Leicester will be looking to make it three in a row as they head to Portman Road but if there was ever a chance to get their first win, it’s here! Give me the Tractor Boys at home
Liverpool’s reign at the top of the table didn’t last long after a 2-2 stalemate with Arsenal saw them drop back to second. It was only the second fixture that Liverpool have dropped points in this season.
Brighton are unbeaten themselves through their last three games but will come up against the best defence in the league. In saying that, Liverpool have let a couple goals slide with the absence and their star goal stopper Allison.
In the past this fixture has provided plenty of excitement with four of their last five meetings seeing at least three goals.
Nottingham Forest have been the dark horse of the Premier League this season, sitting in 7th with 16 points Forest have only seen one defeat on the season.
The Hammers also won on the weekend but I’m not sure you can say they deserved it. They find themselves in a tough spot here having lost their last three head-to-head fixtures with Forest.
Chris Wood has been in excellent form netting seven goals through nine games. I’m picking him to help the Tricky Trees get a win in front of a home crowd.
Southampton are still yet to win a game in the Premier League and Everton have drawn three of their last five.
These two teams have already faced off in the League cup a month ago ending in a 1-1 draw and I’m picking this encounter will follow a similar dynamic.
Just thinking about this game bores me, so I’m taking the draw and moving on.
Another team who are still winless in the Premier League, many thanks to their ability to not be able to keep a clean sheet. They’ve conceded 25 goals through nine games!
Crystal Palace are also struggling but should take some confidence after knocking over Spurs last week. If the Eagles can carry their momentum into this game I like them to come out on top, but knowing Wolves, it’ll likely be a scrappy one.
Tottenham have been up and down all season with four wins, four losses and a draw. A mid-week win over Man City just reinforces how all over the show Tottenham are.
Aston Villa have been the opposite, they have not lost in eleven games across all competitions and are sitting in the top four.
This game should be entertaining and I’m expecting goals to flow.
The Red Devils welcome the Blue to Old Trafford this week and the stakes are high for both sides.
Manchester United’s season has been a rollercoaster ride so far, with the team struggling to find consistency under former manager Erik ten Hag. However, the recent appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim manager seems to have injected new life into the squad.
Enzo Maresca has instilled some hope for Chelsea fans as they carry some impressive away form.
In an unpredictable match-up I’d rather back the goals. In their last meeting, Chelsea came out on top of a 4-3 thriller.
In the last fixture of the weekend, The Bees will head to Craven Cottage. Sitting one point apart on the table suggest that this will be a tightly contested battle.
In their last five meetings, they’ve won two each and drawn the remaining. Both teams have scored in four of Fulham’s last five fixtures and in each of Brentford’s last five.
When you pair those two facts together, you get a nice little double to finish off the week.
