Charlie Wilson breaks down every game of Matchweek 8 and provides his best betting plays of the weekend.
Portman Road will host what should be a good battle between 10th place Ipswich and Nottingham Forest, who sit 19th…
The Tractor Boys have not actually beaten Forest since 2017.
Forest have won five of the last six meetings between these two. But Oliver Glasner’s side has been disappointing, to say the least.
A tough game to call; both teams were impressive in their defeat last time out but I think the value lies with Ipswich.
Best: Draw No Bet: Ipswich @ $2.20
Value: Ipswich Town to Win @ $3.05
Anytime Goalscorer: Liam Delap @ $2.80
Despite the off-field drama, Man City are absolutely flying.
Perfect in the Prem, two wins from three in the Champions League. Phil Foden scoring hat-tricks, Cherki and Elliot Anderson in goal-scoring form and Haaland has been cleared to play.
A scary sight for Villa.
Tipping Haaland to score sounds boring. I know but he’s scored six in his last five and we’re still getting $1.87 for him to find the back of the net. VALUE!
Best: Manchester City to Win @ $1.70
Value: Manchester City to Win Both Halves @ $4.20
Anytime Goalscorer: Erling Haaland @ $1.87
Nottingham gave the Gunners a good run for it last week and were arguably the better side in the opening 45. And a tough midweek battle for Arteta’s side means we might see some rotation or fatigue at the Emirates this week.
I’ll be happy to be proved wrong, but I think it’ll be a slow start for Arsenal and their style of play leans towards a stalemate in the first half with a winner coming in the second 45.
Best: Arsenal & Under 3.5 Goals @ $2.05
Value: Halftime/Fulltime Double: Draw/Arsenal @ $4.00
Anytime Goalscorer: Bruno Guimaraes @ $5.50
Coventry followed up their 4-1 win over Newcastle with a 3-1 loss to Spurs. The difference there was home and away, and guess what, they’re home this week to Fulham.
I’ve found a betcha boost that covers Coventry to win or draw and over 8.5 corners for $2.70. Fulham are 2nd in the corner tally for this year with 43 through seven weeks.
Nine corners for the game shouldn’t be a trouble as there should be plenty of attacking football.
Best: Over 8.5 Corners & Coventry City or Draw @ $2.70 (betcha boost)
Value: Coventry City to Win @ $3.05
Anytime Goalscorer: Alexander Iwobi @ $5.50
Tottenham will look to build on their first win of the season; however, the likelihood of that seems pretty grim.
In their last 10 fixtures against Chelsea, home and away across all competitions, they have won just once and snagged a draw.
Chelsea have also won six on the bounce against their London rivals…
Best: Joao Pedro 2+ Shots on Target @ $1.88
Value: Chelsea to Win 2-1, 3-0 or 3-1@ $3.45
Anytime Goalscorer: Joao Pedro @ $2.10
Crystal Palace got smoked by Brighton last weekend and continue to have had plenty of mixed results. Plenty of goals though too.
Newcastle hasn’t been much better.
Best: Over 0.5 First Half Goals @ $1.95
Value: Crystal Palace to Win @ $2.80
Anytime Goalscorer: Ismaila Sarr @ $3.50
The Tigers haven’t been doing as much mauling as they were at the start of the season, but I’m picking a tight affair here and backing the home side with a +1 handicap.
Underrated in the market to not lose this one.
Mohamed El Bachir Belloumi has been a difference maker for Hull this year, scoring three goals and creating five big chances. On the other side of the field, Igor Thiago has fired 17 shots this season with seven on target.
Best: Hull City +1 Handicap @ $2.10
Value: Mohamed Belloumi to Score or Assist @ $3.15
Anytime Goalscorer: Igor Thiago @ $2.10
Just about the most entertaining team in the league head to Anfield to slay another giant.
Their away record is enough to convince me to take the $3.20 to win, but when you factor in the freedom they’re playing with, the creativity and Liverpool’s leaky defence, it feels too good to be true.
Liverpool won midweek in Europe, but it was yet another game where they couldn’t defend. That makes it three from their last four, conceding three goals.
Best: Brighton to Win @ $3.20
Value: Brighton Over 2.5 Goals @ $5.00
Anytime Goalscorer: Jack Hinshelwood @ $4.75
Anyone who is playing against United, chalk ’em down for three points.
United and Jamie Carragher said in the media this week, “United are rotten from top to bottom”.
Pressure is building on Michael Carrick, but he seems to have lost the dressing room.
The Cherries will be hoping they can take advantage of the fact and walk away from Old Trafford with all the points.
Best: Bournemouth to Win @ $3.50
Value: Manchester United Under 0.5. Goals @ $5.00
Anytime Goalscorer: Evanilson @ $3.40
Sunderland are having a miserable time of it. Lost four straight thanks to some rather plain defending and, unfortunately for the Black Cats, Leeds have enough attacking talent to make Sunderland work all game long.
10 points in seven games for Leeds, with some key players finding form. I think they win this one by two goals or more.
Best: Leeds to Win @ $2.35
Value: Leeds -1 @ $4.50
Anytime Goalscorer: Dominic Calvert-Lewin @ $2.75
