The longest offseason comes to a close this Friday (Thursday in Philadelphia) when the Super Bowl champions welcome the Dallas Cowboys to Lincoln Financial Field.
While all eyes are on the opening weekend of football, I’ve put together some futures bets to keep us going throughout the entire season.
Here at betcha we have a range of futures markets, including Multi Builders for touchdowns, passing yards and rushing and receiving yards.
Now this ain’t the gospel, I’ve avoided the chalk for the most part, but use this as an ideas board to conjure up your own awards winners moonshot, or an over/under team wins multi. Or my favourite, player prop multi builders.
Let’s get into the awards
Awards 👇
Super Bowl Winner
Until Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen can get over the hump, you won’t see me picking the Ravens or the Bills to win the Super Bowl.
There are so many reasons as to why everyone is down on the Chiefs and it’s because Patrick Mahomes had a ‘down’ year last year.
His down year still saw them record 15-2 (yes, but the refs!) We all know this narrative; it doesn’t matter. The Chiefs are a good football team.
Whether they have to go on the road or not, Mahomes and Andy Reid and co are ready for it and have embraced being the villains of the league.
Coming out of the NFC if you’re after an exacta, I like the Buccaneers.
A covid rematch, yes. Different outcome.
The NFC seems like it’s taken a wee step back this year. The Eagles are the Eagles, but unless your last name is Brady or Mahomes, history shows you don’t go back to the big dance.
The Buccaneers are a serious threat and can take advantage of a weaker NFC.
Super Bowl Exacta: Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ $101
Back the Kansas City Chiefs to Win @ $9.50
MVP
I hate that I love Joe Burrow. Dude is so smooth, but he’s also been the only one to take down Pat Mahomes when it matters… aside from the retired Tom Brady.
The only reason he wasn’t awarded the title last year was because the Bengals defence is literally swiss cheese.
Burrow led the league in passing yards with 4918, a completion rate of 70.6%, 45 total touchdowns (two were rushing td’s) and only threw 9 interceptions.
The talk coming out of camp is that Burrow is coming off the best camp he’s had.
A scary thought for a side that notoriously starts very slow.
If that defence is even the tiniest bit better than it was last year, Joe Shiesty will be in the MVP conversations once again.
Back Joe Burrow to Win MVP @ $7.00
Offensive Player of the Year
We’re high on Joe Burrow which means we’re high on Ja’Marr Chase.
If Joe is in the MVP talks, it’ll largely be due to Ja’Marr Chase is going off.
Again, another player that would feel like they were snubbed of the award but it’s pretty hard to argue against Saquon Barkley when he had 2k rushing yards. Eight other players have reached that milestone and they all won OPOY.
To Chase’s credit, he was the Triple Crown winner. With 1,708 receiving yards, 1127 receptions and 17 touchdowns he become the youngest player to achieve this rare feat since HOF receiver, Don Hutson in 1936.
Barkley is the favourite off course, but can he go back to back? No one has since Marshall Faulk won it three years straight from 1999 to 2001.
Back Ja’Marr Chase to Win Offensive Player of the Year @ $10.00
Defensive Player of the Year
Maxx Crosby was heading into the 2024 season off the back of 14.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. Finishing in the top five defensive players.
His 2024 season was cut short, and I think he’s going to be out for blood this year.
This Raiders side could be sneaky good, and if the defence is rolling, it’ll be on the back of Maxx Crosby, the kid from Eastern Michigan.
Back Maxx Crosby to Win Defensive Player of the Year @ $15.00
Offensive Rookie of the Year
Travis Hunter, no chance. Cam Ward, maybe… Shadeur Sanders, not even a starter yet.
The only realistic option is Ashton Jeanty.
The number six overall pick to win OROY is maybe the best bet in here.
I’ll talk below about Pete Carroll, Geno Smith and Brock Bowers but Jeanty is going to be a star of the Las Vegas show. Pete Carroll, seven months ago, said “I hope this organization is recognized for the way we run the football and play defense” (mind the American spelling)
Back Ashton Jeanty to Win Offensive Rookie of the Year @ $3.75
Defensive Rookie of the Year
Not a lot to say here, Abdul Carter is by far and away the favourite to take this award out, and I’m not going to lie when I say there isn’t a whole lot of household names in there except for Travis Hunter.
The Giants’ defence will likely spend a lot of time on the field and Carter should get plenty of opportunities to light up the stat sheet.
Back Abdul Carter to Win Defensive Rookie of the Year @ $3.25
Coach of the Year
Are the Patriots contenders this year? If you’re big on Drake Maye then you’re probably hopeful. What Mike Vrabel needs to work out is how he can protect Maye and allow him to shine.
They’re bought in veteran tackle Morgan Moses, drafted Will Campbell from LSU and have one of the better pass-protecting running backs in TreVeyon Henderson.
They’ll go as far as Drake Maye can take them but if they somehow go from a 3-14 record and make a playoff berth, Vrabel will be right in there to take out Coach of the Year.
Back Mike Vrabel to Win Coach of the Year @ $7.50
Player Props👇
If you saw all the hype and chat surrounding this generational tight end that I did a couple of weeks ago, you could have got Brock Bowers to record over 4.5 receiving touchdowns on the season.
I like it even more now at 5.5 and getting over even money.
Bowers had 112 receptions, 1,194 yards and five touchdowns in his rookie year.
HIS ROOKIE YEAR!
And that was with a combination of quarterbacks. Gardner Minshew, Aiden O’Connell and Desmond Ridder.
Now he gets Geno Smith slinging the rock around, so this team should see an uptick in touchdowns. Add their first round running back, Ashton Jeanty into the mix, and we should see more sustainable and scoring drives from Pete Carroll’s team.
Let’s talk about Pete Carroll for a second. He had a year off after he departed Seattle and now he’s back and not wanting to waste any time to see what his team can do.
He’s worked with Geno Smith before, plays a physical, and knows how to win football games.
I’ve lost sleep over this line, wondering if it’s just the biggest trap you’ve ever seen… or does he Bowers fly over this total?
By the way, there’s never been a season Brock Bowers didn’t record over five touchdowns.
Back Brock Bowers Over 5.5 Receiving Touchdowns @ $2.15
Another sophomore prop here, but Marvin Harrison Jr was tipped to be one of the great wideouts coming out of college.
2024 wasn’t the standout year everyone thought he’d have, but he still had 62 catches for 885 yards and 8 touchdowns. Not bad for someone who has Kyler Murray throwing to him.
I’m expecting Jonathan Gannon and OC Drew Petzing to find ways to get their star receiver more involved in the offense this season.
All signs are pointing to an uptick in efficiency this year so back Marv to clear the 1k mark for the first time in his career.
Back Marvin Harrison Jr 1000+ Receiving yards @ $2.00
It’s the Michael Penix Jr era in Atlanta. The 2024 number eight pick sat behind Kirk Cousins for 14 games last season before the front office made the change.
Penix started three games, throwing three touchdowns, three interceptions and 737 yards in those starts. A pretty modest start in terms of first round quarterbacks.
His accuracy was a bit of an issue and I’m not willing to be my chips on this front office sticking with Penix for the whole season.
Queue the Bryce Young narrative.
It’s less so on Penix as a talent and more on how the Falcons run their franchise. They’ve paid Kirk Cousins all this money; he’s a seasoned vet, and if Penix doesn’t hit the ground running, I think they’ll sit him.
Let him learn and give Cousins the reins again.
Back Michael Penix Jr Under 3350.5 Passing Yards @ $1.91
Multi Builders 👇
I’ve done a quarterback regular season passing yards multi, the same for receivers and again for running backs. These are just players I like the look of and who I think have a lot of upside and potential to go big, but also have some dollar value for our multi’s.
I’ve gone with at least four legs, so you can use your Multi Rescue tool and get your stake back as bonus cash up to $50 if it misses by one leg.
