We have Everest tips and predictions for the Group 1 1200m race at Randwick on Saturday.
The Everest odds have Ka Ying Rising at skinny odds, and they are justified for the best horse in the world.
We’re sticking with Ka Ying Rising as our top pick for The Everest. The Hong Kong superstar returns to defend his title after winning the 2025 edition, and his record makes him the obvious horse to beat.
He arrives in Australia following another dominant performance over 1200m at Sha Tin, where he won the Chief Executive’s Cup by seven lengths. He also boasts a remarkable winning streak, which showcases the quality he brings to this race.
The main concern is barrier 11, which could make things tricky around Randwick’s 1200m course. Zac Purton will need to judge the early speed and avoid covering too much ground, but the horse has enough class to overcome a difficult draw.
At around $1.50, the odds are short, so he isn’t necessarily the best value bet. However, we’re happy to have him on top in our Everest predictions, as he should win.

Our next best is Tempted, who looks the strongest local challenger to the favourite.
The 4YO mare produced an outstanding performance in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes on 3 October, winning by three lengths over 1200m at Randwick. She showed a sharp turn of foot and looked to have plenty left in reserve at the finish.
We particularly like her ability to accelerate when the pace lifts. That trait is crucial in The Everest, where the race can change dramatically in the final 200m. Her preparation has been designed to have her peaking for this race, and she has already shown she can compete at the highest level.
She finished second behind Ka Ying Rising in last year’s Everest, but she has continued to develop since then. At $5.00, we’re happy to back her on an each-way basis in The Everest predictions.

We’re going with Ninja at $20 as our best roughie. He’s the sort of runner worth considering if you’re looking for a bigger price rather than backing the two obvious winning chances.
He’ll need to produce a career-best performance to beat the leading pair. However, if the leading horses get into a speed battle and the race unfolds in his favour, Ninja could be right there to strike.
We’re hoping he didn’t spend all his chips when beating KYR in a recent trial, but he looked good, and the soft track conditions should be right up his alley. He’s a threat at $20, and if the favourite gets into trouble, Ninja could be there to pounce.
| 7. Ninja (3) J: Tommy Berry 58.5kg 15×19 T: Michael Freedman |
Punters get value odds with our The Everest SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
We have Ka Ying Rising to Win, Tempted Top 2, and Ninja Top 4, which pays $12.50 for our three-runner SRM.
We’re picking Ka Ying Rising and Tempted to run the quinella, as they are the best sprinters in the race. They need luck, but class can overcome it.
