We have Caulfield Cup tips and predictions for the Group 1 2400m race at Caulfield on Saturday.
Caulfield Cup odds present a wide-open field, and there are numerous winning chances in the big staying affair.
We’re putting Cosmic Crusader on top in our Caulfield Cup tips after his impressive win in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes. He’s heading into the race in strong form and has established himself as the horse to beat in the current betting market.
The main concern is his wide barrier draw, which could force William Pike to make an early decision about whether to press forward or settle back in the field. Caulfield’s 2400m presents a different challenge, but his recent form gives us confidence that he can handle the class.
At around $4.80, he’s not a big price selection, but we think he’s the most likely winner of the three horses we’re backing. If Pike can find a position without spending too much energy early, Cosmic Crusader should be right in the finish.

Our next best bet with Caulfield Cup predictions is Wine Dark Sea, the European raider who appeals as a genuine value chance in this year’s Caulfield Cup.
The Harry Charlton-trained galloper arrives with excellent staying form, having won three of his four starts during his latest preparation. His campaign included a victory in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes over approximately 2700m at Newbury, demonstrating his ability to sustain a strong effort over a staying distance.
We particularly like his light weight of 54.5kg, which could prove important over the demanding 2400m. Damian Lane is also a positive booking, giving the imported galloper an experienced jockey who knows how to navigate Australian feature races.
The obvious concern is barrier 19 and the challenge of travelling to Australia. He’ll need luck in the run, but his European form suggests he has the quality to compete, and $9.00 looks an attractive price.

For a genuine long-shot in our Caulfield Cup tips, we’re going with Kings Valley at $35.00.
He’s at a much longer price than our other selections and could provide the value punters are looking for in a competitive staying race.
The Ciaron Maher-trained runner earned his place in the race through his Listed Mornington Cup victory, giving him some proven staying credentials. While he’ll need to step up against stronger opposition, his staying ability makes him an interesting outsider over 2400m.
Barrier 12 isn’t ideal, and he has plenty to prove against the leading chances. However, at $35, we’re looking for a horse capable of outperforming his market price, and he fits the bill.

Punters get value odds with our Caulfield Cup SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
We have Cosmic Crusader Top 3, Wine Dark Sea Top 5, and Kings Valley Top 9, which pays $17.00 for our three-runner SRM.
We’re confident of Cosmic Crusader finishing in the first three home, and we just need Wine Dark Seak and Kings Valley to live up to their end of the bargain.
