The first test of the Bledisloe Cup has arrived, and it’s set to be played on one of rugby’s biggest stages: the hallowed ground of Eden Park.
Of course, the ABs will be looking to extend their historic winning streak at the ground, while the Wallabies would love nothing more than to be the team that shatters that record once and for all.
The Wallabies are riding high off the back of a historic win against the Springboks. Despite all the cards they were shown, they managed to do something the ABs were only able to do once in four attempts.
The ABs have had some time off, with some players suiting up in the NPC over the past couple of weeks. However, despite the break, they’re completely riddled with injuries and are even down to their third-string first five.
For me, looking at the two sides and the context surrounding the game, the value lies with the visitors, who have shown they can rise to the big occasion. This game provides exactly that, and no doubt the team coming across the ditch will be eager to put this ABs team to the sword. Whether they can actually win at Eden Park might be a step too far, but keeping the game close is well within their reach.
