Winx Stakes Barrier Draw Winners & Losers

Autumn Glow has landed one of the best draws for the 2026 Winx Stakes, with the $1.90 favourite set to jump from barrier 3.

The Chris Waller-trained mare couldn’t ask for much more, with James McDonald taking the ride. From barrier 3, she should have enough room to find a comfortable position before making her move around the final bend.

Sheza Alibi hasn’t been quite as fortunate, drawing the inside barrier. While the rail can sometimes be an advantage, this particular draw could leave the talented 4YO needing plenty to go her way. She’ll be relying on the runners around her to provide an opening at the top of the straight.

If Sheza Alibi gets a clean run through the field, she has the ability to finish over the top of them. The problem comes if she’s caught behind horses and unable to get clear.

Beiwacht has also come away from the Winx Stakes barrier draw in good shape, landing barrier 4. He should be able to settle within striking distance of Autumn Glow and look to chase her down in the closing stages. At $18, he’s an appealing option for punters looking to add some value to their Winx Stakes bets.

What to Expect in the 2026 Winx Stakes

The favourites look like the obvious starting point for Betcha punters, but it would be a mistake to completely rule out an upset. Group 1 races can throw up surprises, particularly if one of the leading chances fails to fire on race day.

Beiwacht, Lady Shenandoah and Idle Flyer all have enough ability to make an impact first-up. Autumn Glow and Sheza Alibi may still have improvement to come and could need the run to reach peak fitness, but as betting suggests, they should be ready to fire.

Autumn Glow and Sheza Alibi have the class to dominate this field, and plenty of punters are clearly expecting exactly that. Most of the early money has come for the quinella, which is a tidy bet to kick off Group 1 racing in Sydney.
