We have Missile Stakes tips and predictions for the first Group 2 race of the new season, where some of Australia’s best sprinters line up.
Headlining Missile Stakes predictions is Angel Capital, who didn’t win in five attempts last preparation, but he could mature into a different animal in the 2026-27 season.
After opening at $2.35 with Betcha, there hasn’t been much market confidence for Angel Capital, but we’re not surprised. He has a habit of letting punters down as the race favourite, but we’re giving him one more chance.
The Chris Waller-trained 5YO is the proven Group 1 sprinter in the field, having run in The Everest, and he has five wins from 15 starts for more than $2.2 million in stakes. That’s a good record, and it should be respected in the Missile Stakes.
He does have a knack of not running up to his potential. He’s such a good sprinter, but he is quirky, so James McDonald will have his hands full on Saturday. However, four of his five wins have come fresh-up, so punters should expect him to hit the ground running from barrier three.
It’s a risk to put him on top, but on pure talent alone, he should beat this field.

Punters get each-way odds for Napoleonic with our Missile Stakes predictions, and he’s a threat to the more favoured runners.
The 4YO son of Wootton Bassett has a duck egg beside his name when running 12th at Eagle Farm, but that came at Group 1 level, and he was only four lengths behind the likes of Headley Grange and Jimmysstar.
Much like Angel Capital, backing Napoleonic comes with risks. He hasn’t won recently, but most of those races came at the top level, and he’s usually competitive. It wasn’t long ago when he was the hype horse, and he’s good enough to get back to that level.
There is market confidence after opening at $7 with Betcha, so it’s good to see him being supported throughout the week.

Ok, hear us out. Fully Lit, whilst paying massive odds, could run in the money. He is a past fresh-up winner, and if any stable can pull off a heist, it’s the Waterhouse/Bott stable.
The 5YO son of Hellbent was no match for Autumn Glow in his last race in November, but he has been given a long spell to prepare for the spring carnival, and he’s a runner who could sit handy to the speed and give a good kick.
If they go slowly enough up front, Fully Lit has a good turn-of-foot, and he could catch the favoured runners napping. We understand that he’ll need to go to another level to win the Missile Stakes, but at $46, he’s worth the risk, and he’s also worth including in Missile Stakes SRM bets for a top 5 finish.

We have four runners included in our Missile Stakes same race multi, which could return punters a healthy profit at Betcha.
All three of our selected runners are included, and we’re also featuring Ninja on the second line of betting. Ninja is an elite 1200m-1400m runner, and we don’t feel comfortable leaving him out of picks.
Our SRM has Angel Capital Top 2, Ninja Top 3, Napoleonic Top 3, and Fully Lit Top 5, which pays $19. That’s a big payout in a field of only eight runners, and although there is more risk with SRM bets, the odds make it worth it.
