The Rabbitohs ran rampant over the Broncos, the Dolphins dominated the Chooks, and the Tigers secured an important win over the Titans at home. Hers is our Round 15 Team of the Week.
Prop | Tyrell May
Tigers toppled the Titans, and Tyrell was in top form with his second-highest run meters this season with 231. He was big defensively in his 76 minutes with 46 tackles, 72 post-contact meters, had four tackle breaks, and two offloads.
Prop | Xavier Willison
54 tackles, two tackle breaks, two offloads and 131 run meters, putting in a shift for the Broncos where not many of his teammates are pulling their weight.
Hooker | Jeremy Marshall-King
Big Shift against the Roosters, scoring a try through a quick play of the ball and hitting through the gap in the Roosters’ defence. Was defensively important with his 40 tackles, also had three tackle breaks, two turnovers, a line break, and an offload.
Second Row | Angus Crichton
80 minute stint for Crichton in a big loss to the Dolphins, despite being on the wrong side of the scoreboard, had an outstanding nine tackle breaks in the match, made 40 tackles, had a line break and ran for 119 meters.
Second Row | Kitione Kautoga
140 run meters against the Raiders, scored the Eels’ third and important try in the 60th minute, had two tackle breaks, 44 post-contact meters, a line break, made 30 tackles defensively, and had two offloads.
Lock | Cameon McInnes
One of his bigger performances of the season since returning from his ACL injury earlier this year, unfortunately, it was against the Warriors. He had his most minutes of the season as well, being on the park for almost the full 80 minutes. McInnes contributed a massive 56 tackles, ran for 120 running meters, and had four tackle breaks.
Half | Jerome Luai
From Jahrome last week to Jerome this week. Luai put on a clinic against the Titans with his three tries, including some fancy footwork for his third. Instrumental in an important win for the Tigers and didn’t shy away from taking it to the line with his eight tackle breaks, five offloads, and 134 run meters.
Half | Isaiya Katoa
Beautiful show-and-go for the first try of the match. Very subtle chip over the top to find space in behind the defensive line in his try assist for Nikorima in the 31st minute. Katoa also had a line break, a line break assist, and made 25 tackles.
Centre | Herbie Farnworth
Back-to-back weeks with 7+ tackle breaks for Herbie, with 165 run meters, two line breaks, and a try for the Dolphins in their domination over the Roosters. Herbie also supplied his teammates with two try assists, two line break assists and an offload.
Centre | Mathew Timoko
An impressive eight tackle breaks from Timoko against the Eels, had two offloads, 142 run meters, made a season-high 26 tackles, and scored the Raiders’ first try of the game after 60 minutes.
Winger |Tevita Naufahu
Quality all around the ark for the Dolphins this week. Showed incredible wheels and determination to hunt down Ramsey, who almost ran for over 100 meters plus a try for the Roosters, clipping him right at the corner post. Lodged a season high of 253 run meters for the Dolphins, had three line breaks, three tackle breaks, a try, and that incredible try-saving effort.
Winger | Alex Johnston
19 tries already this season for AJ, and he scored four of those this weekend against a very average-looking Broncos side. Ran for 154 meters, had four tackle breaks and two line breaks in the match.
Fullback | Keano Kini
Now holds the club record for the most run meters in a single NRL match, with his 334 running meters. Would love to see a heat map from Kini in that game because it felt like he was everywhere, such an exciting player to watch. Elusive and electric on the break had three try assists for his teammates with four line breaks, five tackle breaks and five offloads.
