Adelaide will be fresh after securing the second spot on the ladder and locking in their semi-final appearance. Fresh legs, recovered players and motivation all sound like a good combination and a tough ask for Auckland to overcome.
However, the adrenaline that the AFC players would’ve gone through last week will still be running through their veins as they run out on Saturday night.
I think there is every chance Auckland FC will win this first leg by scoring two or more goals. They stumbled at this point last year; they’ve got nothing to lose and will want to head to Adelaide with a handy lead.
Guillermo May seems to be the man stepping up in big moments for the Black Knights. Adelaide will know this, too and try to lock him down. This should allow for others to have a good crack at it.
Don’t expect the cagey affair we saw last week… we might be in for some goals, and hopefully they come in the second half as the game opens up.
