Another week, another tough loss for the struggling Storm who are now 0-6 in their last six games.
Fortunately, there were plenty of big scorelines and top-tier talent on display across Anzac weekend that we avoid putting the whole Bunnies squad in this week’s NRL Team of the Week.
Prop | Jackson Ford
With a season-best of 58 tackles for Jackson Ford in the capital city against the Dolphins, Ford is back in the mix for team of the week. We are eight rounds deep and Ford still leads the Dally M leaderboard with 31 and added another 200+ metre game to his tally. He could hardly put a foot wrong in what was a gruelling match against a physical Dolphins pack.
Prop | Terrell May
No surprises May makes it three weeks on the sheet with another 200+ metre game, 5 tackle breaks, and 30 tackles.
Hooker | Reece Robson
A top draw performance from the Roosters and Reece Robson, contributing with his first try of the season – a darting run through a depleted dragons defence, 35 tackles, 3 tackle breaks, and 74 run metres.
Second Row | Tallis Duncan
A hattrick on Anzac Day in Melbourne for Duncan, brushing off tackles with 6 tackle breaks, 2 line breaks, 164 running metres, 2 turnovers, and 34 tackles. A good all-round performance for Tallis Duncan and the Bunnies in their bruising victory over the Storm.
Second Row | Haumole Olakau’atu
Big hits, big fends, and another big performance from Olakau’atu with 226 run metres, 9 tackle breaks and came very close to scoring after a strong for the Sea Eagles in their victory over the Eels.
Lock | Alex Twal
With an impressive season-best of 57 tackles and zero missed, Alex Twal and his defensive efforts cannot go unnoticed. He’s been in impeccable form this season alongside his Tigers comrades and once again put in a solid 80-minute shift in the victory over the Raiders with 178 run metres, 3 offloads, and a try assist to his name.
Xavier Willison a notable mention for his performances over the last two weeks, stepping up big time without Captain Carrigan. Erin Clarke, another standout with 8 tackle breaks, 174 metres, and 53 post contact metres.
Half | Adam Doueihi
Another man having a great season in the orange and black, in addition to his 500 kicking metres and 148 run metres, Doueihi scored twice, converted 4 goals and a field goal, contributing 17 points in the 33-14 victory over the Raiders.
Half | Jamal Fogarty
Fogarty and the Sea Eagles continue to thrive under Foran who has become the first interim coach to win their first four games in charge. Fogarty showed some serious wheels in scoring his try, slotted four conversions, and added a field goal to his name in his 13-point contribution in the 33-18 victory over the Eels.
When last did you see Fogarty run like that over 50m? Wow.
Centre | Latrell Mitchell
Now the leading point scorer this season with 102, Latrell was back to his best this season and showed that again against the Storm. A Dirty flick pass to Johnston for the first try, and a dirty two-pointer to rub it in when the Bunnies were up 40-0, completing his contribution in Melbourne with 5 goals, two try assists, and 164 run metres.
Centre | KL IRO
A second-half hattrick for Iro in the sharks 34-46 defeat to the cowboys with both teams defence seemingly on holiday, Iro had 3 line breaks and 174 run metres, his second highest of the season.
Winger | Setu Tu
Setu was a shining star in a dim Dragon’s performance. Despite being on the wrong end of the scoreboard, Setu scored a try beating multiple defenders, set-up two more, had 4 tackle breaks, 2-line breaks, and when they were down 58-10 he jumped above Daniel Tupou to set up the dragons third try, ‘never say die’ attitude from Setu.
Winger | Brian To’o
To’o and the Panthers had a great time out in Newcastle, adding two tries to his name, 8 tackle breaks and 227 run metres (his season-high).
Fullback | Dylan Edwards
In a week with multiple fantastic fullback performances, Dylan Edwards seals the deal with a first-half hattrick, including a 60-metre run after picking up the scraps of a dropped ball. Edwards collected 292 metres, a try assist and 7 tackle breaks in the Panthers 44-12 victory.
Honourable mention is Matt Dufty who shined again in only his second match of the season for the Bunnies. Racking up 327 running metres, a try, and an assist.
