Thursday Champions League Best Bets

Thursday Champions League Best Bets

The Champions League is back in action this week, with a full slate of football from wire to wire.

We will no doubt still have our weekly EPL tips, but why not dive straight into the action from the best that Europe has to offer while finding value along the way.

Best Head-to-Head Bet

👇
Galatasaray SK
vs
Atletico Madrid
6:45 AM, Thursday | Rams Park
Atletico Madrid to Win @ $2.10

The lead off hitter is always the head to head leg of this article, and when scrolling through the slate and diving into a few matchups, there was a clear choice for this section. That game takes place in Istanbul, with Galatasaray hosting Atletico Madrid in their seventh Champions League fixture of the campaign.

For me, Atletico Madrid could certainly be heavier favourites based on the talent gap between the two sides, despite the long trip they have to make to reach the RAMS Park Stadium.

With that said, the style of football Diego Simeone deploys suits going on the road on Champions League nights and finding a way to squeeze out victories in tough situations. That is exactly the challenge Galatasaray present, with a couple of game breakers of their own, but for the reasons discussed, I am backing Atletico Madrid to fly home with a win under their belts.

Best Anytime To Score Or Assist Bet

👇
Olympique Marseille
vs
Liverpool
9:00 AM, Thursday | Orange Velodrome
Mason Greenwood To Score Or Assist @ $2.20

This one is a bold play, as we are backing a player suiting up for the underdog in this matchup, Mason Greenwood. Since moving to France, Greenwood has been a goals and assists machine, becoming the talisman for Marseille and taking Ligue 1 by storm. Based purely on the numbers, he has been one of the most prolific players on the continent, with nearly 20 goals and assists across all competitions, despite it being only halfway through the season.

This week, he will be the key cog for a Marseille side looking to defend their home turf against Liverpool. That Liverpool side, while climbing up the Premier League table, are still susceptible to a poor performance, and if they turn up off their game, Greenwood is the calibre of player who can make them pay.

Best Underdog Bet

👇
Newcastle United
vs
PSV Eindhoven
9:00 AM, Thursday | St. James Park
PSV to Win @ $6.40

Now, PSV might not be some kind of major European juggernaut, but their dominance in the Eredivisie over the years has allowed them to be regular players at the top level of European football. This week, they make the trip to St James’ Park to take on Premier League side Newcastle.

Newcastle have been an up and down team this season, with patches where they look like one of the best sides in the Premier League, and at other times looking like they belong in the Championship.

PSV should carry plenty of confidence into this one, having already enjoyed success against a team from the north of England, and that victory came against a much stronger opponent. In late November, PSV put Newcastle’s rivals Liverpool to the sword in a 4–1 drubbing, showing they can certainly turn it on any given matchday.

So, if you are looking to back an underdog this week, it might be worth taking a look PSV’s way.

Best Same Game Multi

👇
Chelsea
vs
Pafos
9:00 AM, Thursday | Stamford Bridge
SGM @ $6.38

We close this one out like we always do, with a same game multi offering, and we are heading to Southwest London. Chelsea are set to host Pafos in what shapes up as a major game for the home side’s Champions League table position, while Pafos, sitting all the way down in 30th, will be looking to add a statement win to their campaign.

To start out the same game multi, we are backing Chelsea striker Liam Delap, if he starts, to record 2+ shots on target. Delap has been hitting his stride recently, and with his understanding of Liam Rosenior’s system, I expect him to be in the right place at the right time more often than not to get shots away.

Moving on to his teammate, the Brazilian starlet Estevao, who after missing the weekend through illness should be back in the side. In his first season with the Blues, he has been scintillating when given his chances, and with him playing some of his best football in the Champions League, I think he could put on a show under the lights at Stamford Bridge.

To close things out, rather than looking at the result, as there is not a whole lot of value there, we are dipping into the card market. Chelsea have been one of the most ill-disciplined teams in Europe this season, so them picking up a yellow card makes sense. Add in the fact that Pafos should be sitting deep in defence, and I can see them picking up a booking or two as well.

  • Liam Delap 2+ Shots On Target @ $1.72
  • Estêvão To Score @ $2.75
  • Both Teams To Get Carded @ $1.40

Use the Same Game Multi Cover tool to get your stake back as Bonus Cash up to $50 if it misses by one leg.
