He is dropping back in distance from his last two runs, but that shouldn’t be an issue given his strong track, jockey, and distance form.

Towering Vision comes into this race second-up after a fresh-up fifth over 1400m, where he finished strongly down the straight. He’ll be looking to return to the form he showed last preparation, which included a second and a win. With a favourable barrier draw in gate five, he should be able to settle midfield and produce a strong late run.

The Odyssey has made a good start to this preparation with a win and a third. His most recent run, however, didn’t go his way in the 2000m Group 3 at Ellerslie, where he was beaten by some high-quality horses. His distance record is respectable, with four wins, one third, and two fourths from eight starts over 2000m. While a win looks unlikely, he’s a genuine chance of finishing in the top four.

Have A Crack has been in excellent form this preparation, recording two wins and a third. Although he hasn’t raced since the start of the month, he comes into this with a strong trial win over 1000m and looked sharp doing it. He handles the shorter distances well and should be right in the mix again this weekend.
