Golden Wings has a solid record, having raced only three times for two seconds and a win last start over 1200 m. He led the field the whole way and scored by 4.5 lengths. He steps up to 1400 m here, which will be a real test for him.
Unfortunately, he’s drawn a tough gate for his front-running style, so he’ll need to work hard early to find the lead. If he can get there, I’m confident he has the class to go back-to-back.

Arabian Songbird is launching into the 2025/26 season in outstanding form, with two wins from two starts. Her most recent victory was over 1400 m, storming home from fourth-last to win by a length. She’s already beaten race rival Moving Melody, and this will be her biggest test yet against a strong field of proven performers.

Diamond Jak has made a strong start to the season with two wins from his last five runs, both on heavy and soft tracks over 2000–2200 m. Last start he ran second to the well-known El Vencedor and beat home race rivals Sharp ’N’ Smart, Aftermath Blue Sky At Night, and Midnight Blue in a Group 3 at Ellerslie.
Drawn barrier 14, he should be able to settle off the pace and charge home late. While a win might be a stretch, he looks like a solid top-four chance.

Speed Demon has only had two starts.
On debut, he finished fourth of five behind race favourite Harvey Wallbanger, who he meets again here. He then broke through for a dominant 3.5-length win over 1100 m on 8 November at Pukekohe, running on extremely well in a larger field.
As he gains more experience, he’s shaping up as a genuine threat. From barrier 1, he should get a soft run midfield and look to unleash late.
