We’re back from international break and straight back into A-League action.
Week 4 was a goodie where we nailed the Super Boost in the Kiwi Derby and our best bet with Melbourne City cruising past the Victory.
Let’s look for much of the same success in Week 5 👇
The Nix struggled against Auckland, and despite getting themselves back into the game not long after Auckland scored the opener, their lack of creativity against nine men meant they could not find a later goal to tie the game.
It was a disappointing effort in front of home fans and something they should be looking to rectify against Macarthur.
Macarthur, just like the Nix, only have one win through four games. Only managing to beat Adelaide United 2-1 at home.
They’ve played twice away from home and not managed to score a goal yet.
Bulls’ games haven’t seen heaps of goals, but when the Phoenix play, it’s a different story. Each one of their games has seen at least two goals, and both teams have scored each time.
I like the double market for this fixture, picking both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals in the game.
Even with nine men, Auckland were able to hold on against the Nix and whether that’s all credit to them, on the Nix for not being good enough, or just that Auckland FC live rent-free inside Wellington’s head, I don’t know.
But what I do know is that Auckland can defend like the world depends on it. They’ll take heaps of confidence from that defensive performance and will likely be aware that it’ll be key to beating the Roar, who are actually playing some good football.
Brisbane are fourth on the ladder with two wins, a draw and a loss, and before the break, beat Newcastle 3-0.
My theory is, if Auckland didn’t concede when they had nine men on the field, it’s going to be pretty hard for the Roar to break them down when they have 11 men on the field.
Both teams not to score is an option, but I do think Auckland are good enough to halt the Roar’s momentum and snag some extra value.
I think Melbourne Victory are going to struggle this week playing away from home against Sydney, who sit second on the ladder with three wins and one loss.
The Victory have struggled to start the season and have been really hit or miss.
Sydney, though, have been on fire since their Week 1 loss, winning 2-0, 4-1 and 2-0.
This is a game the Sky Blues should win, and we’re getting better than even money for it!
