She didn’t get the most favourable run last start but still managed to find a second gear and get the job done. She’s still very new to the game, with only three races under her belt, but she’s an exciting, determined filly with plenty of fight. She’s drawn a great barrier (6), which should allow her to sit midfield and finish strongly.

Coming off a second placing in the Sir Colin Meads Trophy at Ellerslie over 1200m on 6 September, He Who Dares gets his second shot this prep. It’s been a long wait between runs, which could affect race fitness, but the three-year-old colt was flying home last start over 1200 m. The extra 200m this time will suit him nicely, allowing him to really wind up. With the in-form jockey Opie Bosson on board, he looks well placed.

Leica Lucy has had an encouraging start to this prep, with a fourth placing first-up and a strong third in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap over 1600m second-up. She has excellent distance and third-up form, and has placed or won in 6 of 8 starts on good tracks. She’s drawn well in barrier 3, though she’s likely to settle towards the back as she often does.

The five-year-old gelding is looking to back up from an impressive win last start in the Rich Hill Stud 1200 m at Ellerslie. He has 2 wins from 3 starts and good form on both good and soft tracks. He also has solid distance and jockey stats. While he steps up in class this start, he’s expected to continue his good form and has every chance of making it three on the trot.
