There are no 5-0 teams in the NFL for the first time since 2014.
After Tom Brady’s son (Drake Maye) and the Patriots beat the Bills on primetime television, and the Broncos beat the Eagles, there are no more unbeaten teams.
The 49ers are a better team with Mac Jones, Baker Mayfield is a dawg, and Trevor Lawrence looked evil in the eyes and said not today to Pat Mahomes, Andy Reid and the Swifties.
As we look to Week 6 of the season, I can’t help but think London deserves better. They got to witness Carson Wentz go toe-to-toe with Dillon Gabriel, who had his first start with the Browns… and now they get a Bo Nix vs Justin Fields match-up.
How exciting.
The Giants are on primetime once again, we have more divisional match-ups, a huuuuuge game for Kansas City on SNF against the Lions, and two MNF games.
So let’s rip into this.
The 1-4 Giants host he 4-1 Eagles at MetLife Stadium to get Week 6 of the NFL underway.
Both teams are coming off losses. The Giants’ loss was expected, but the Eagles uncharacteristically blew a 14-point lead. The Broncos scored 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. There seems to be a theme mounting here for the Eagles and switching off after the first half.
The Giants, well, their party was short-lived. Losing to the Saints is not a good look, especially when it’s their only win of the season so far.
When you look at this game, you think there’s no way the Eagles lose. But you probably thought the same about the Rams last week on TNF.
I’m not picking the Giants to win, but I do like them to cover the spread. The more Jaxson Dart plays, the more comfortable he’s going to be in this offence, and we’ll start to see this Giants side compete in more games.
It’s just unfortunate they’re going to have to do it without Malik Nabers.
Those are big shoes to fill, but it looks like they’ve got themselves another stud in Cam Skattebo, who might be the angriest runner I’ve seen. He’s also been a threat in the passing game, too and will be a reliable option for Dart.
As for the Eagles, in the passing game, it’s their Tight End who’s been doing the damage. Dallas Goedert now has four touchdowns in three games and is still paying $4.50!
My Bets:
- New York Giants +7.5 @ $1.90
- Cam Skattebo 20+ Receiving Yards @ $1.83
- Dallas Goedert Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $4.50
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is graced by a quarterback matchup between Bo Nix and Justin Fields.
The 0-5 Jets have been very bad, and this is a nightmare matchup for their offence. The Broncos’ defence is mean and won’t let the Jets have a sniff down the field. They’ll go after Justin Fields, and he’ll have to rely on his legs to make plays once again.
If the Broncos can limit the one-two punch of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, they should be able to handle Fields.
The easy pick here would be to take the Broncos -7. But if you look at some of the Jets’ scores, they’ve only been beaten by more than seven in two of their five losses.
More so, when you talk about the Broncos’ defence, it leans to the under, but I’m going to back the overs with the thought that Bo Nix can light up this Jets defence like the Cowboys did last week.
On that note, the sophomore quarterback will just be gaining confidence, especially after knocking off the Eagles last week. He’s starting to get in rhythm and find his receivers in stride. After Dak threw 4 touchdowns last week, I think Nix will at least have two to his name in London.
As mentioned above, Fields will have to rely on his legs to make plays. He rushed seven times over the last two weeks, and the only time he’s cleared this line was in Week 1 vs the Steelers. For them to be competitive, he needs to be that dual-threat qb he’s been known to be.
My Bets:
- Over 43.5 Total Points @ $1.90
- Bo Nix 2+ Passing Touchdowns @ $1.94
- Justin Fields Over 7.5 Rushing Attempts @ $1.82
An AFC North meeting between the Browns and the Steelers. This is a huge game for the Steelers, who could take a stranglehold on the division.
A win over a division opponent is almost worth two wins, especially in this AFC North, which has always been competitive.
They split the series last year, but I’m going to trust the Steelers to beat the Browns at home.
Aaron Rodgers vs Dillon Gabriel. Experience vs Newbie.
Plus the added fact that Mike Tomlin’s Steelers rarely lose when coming off a bye week, winning eight straight regular season games in that spot and covering the spread in six of them.
The Steelers have been doing the damage on the ground, which means fewer touchdown passes for Rodgers. In a divisional game, Tomlin will stick to what works, and that’s the run.
On the other side, rookie Quinshon Judkins continues to ball out in losing efforts. With Gabriel under centre, expect Judkins to get plenty of touches.
My Bets:
- Pittsburgh Steelers -5.5 @ $1.90
- Aaron Rodgers Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns @ $TBC
- Quinshon Judkins 18+ Rushing Attempts @ $TBC
Both of these teams had tight wins in Week 5, and both teams are battling with plenty of injuries.
Both teams are top of their respective divisions, but this could have plenty of playoff implications.
Mac Jones was the star of the show last week for the 9ers, fighting through his own injury. While Baker Mayfield and Emeka Egbuka continue to be unstoppable.
This makes for an interesting matchup, but I think at home, the Buccaneers win this one. In tight games, Baker knows how to get his side out with the win, and the 49ers have not covered the spread in their last five road games.
Both teams have been extremely fun to watch, more so the 9ers with Jones at the helm. In Week 5, all four quarterbacks, Jones, Mayfield, Stafford and Darnold threw for 300+ yards. So the offence is putting up numbers, and the defence… seemingly non-existent.
With that, Rachaad White, who’s stepped into Bucky Irving’s role, had two touchdowns last week and is a confident redzone back. Expect him to bust through and find himself in the endzone again.
My Bets:
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 @ $1.90
- Baker Mayfield 275+ Passing Yards @ $3.00
- Mac Jones 275+ Passing Yards @ $2.50
- Rachaad White Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $1.75
The sixth Sunday Night Football game takes place at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium with a showdown between the Chiefs and the Lions.
Last time these two quarterbacks met was the start of the 2023 NFL season, where Goff and the Lions won it 21-20 at Arrowhead.
Mahomes and Goff have only met on one other occasion, and Goff had his number again, but this time won it for the Rams.
The 2-3 Chiefs lost last week to the Jags, forget the 99-yard pick six, the offence was actually playing well with Mahomes clearing 300 yards, Kareem Hunt had two touchdowns, and Kelce found himself in the endzone too.
The Lions, like most teams at the moment, are blitzing the Bengals. Touchdowns for both running backs and tight end Sam LaPorta.
This makes for a scary proposition for Chiefs fans who could see their team fall to 2-4.
Firstly, they need to sort out their back field. It’s a mess right now with neither Hunt nor Pacheco winning the job. They had similar stat lines last week and have the exact same rushing line this week. Both cleared it, and I think we’ll see a similar usage until one of the two breaks through. Hunt seems to be looking more dangerous at this point, so I’ll back him of the two to reach 30 rushing yards.
I’ve found this betcha boost I quite like the look of. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery Both Rush for 50+ Yards, and the Lions Win, paying $7.50. This has happened in three of their last four games, with the only time it has not. Montgomery was a non-factor with 12 rushing yards.
Talking about the Chiefs sorting out their run game, Mahomes has arguably been their best option on the ground. He scored last week, and the Lions know how to stuff the run. Look for Mahomes to scramble and make something happen with his legs.
My Bets:
- Kareem Hunt Over 29.5 Rushing Yards @ $1.88
- Betcha Boost | Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery Both Rush for 50+ Yards and Lions Win (Was $6.49) @ $7.50
- Patrick Mahomes Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $3.40
The first of two MNF games has the 2-2 Falcons taking on the 4-1 Bills, who were upset during primetime last week against the Patriots.
Do the Bills bounce back? It’s hard to see a world where they don’t, but the Falcons did just take down the Commanders last week and looked good doing it!
Mainly on the back of Bijan Robinson, who is one of the best dual-threat backs in the game. He had 181 total yards last week with a touchdown. Drake London also had 110 yards and a touchdown as Penix Jr. started to look more and more comfortable in Atlanta.
For all the Bills fans wanting a bounce-back win from their team, they’re going to have to work hard to win this away from home.
Drake Maye was very good last week and got the ball into his pass catcher’s hands. Something Penix will have to do if the Falcons want success.
His best receiver, Drake London.
He finally had a day out last week, and they’ll want to continue to build on that connection. Back London to at least clear his total yards against this Bills secondary.
Dalton Kincaid is off to the best start of his career, racking up 20 catches for 287 yards and three scores through the first five games of the season. In a pass catcher group that is all over the show, Kincaid has been a reliable target for Allen. Especially in the redzone…
My Bets:
- Atlanta Falcons +4 @ $1.88
- Drake London Over 72.5 Receiving Yards @ $1.88
- Dalton Kincaid Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $3.05
The second of the MNF games gives us Caleb Williams and the Bears heading to Washington to take on the Commanders.
The Bears are fresh off the bye, but the Commanders are also fresh off beating the Chargers. The last time these two sides met was the infamous hail mary that won the game for the Commanders.
Deebo Samuel and Jacory Croskey-Merritt were the big reasons the Commanders came out on top and look to be the elite weapons for Jayden Daniels’ offence.
I’d be expecting to see the Commanders run the ball right down the middle of the Chicago defence, and they should be able to run themselves into a victory. However, there’s not much value in backing them to win, so I’m going to back them in the margin as well as the rookie running back to score in the doubles markets.
I do think the Bears will be in the fight after they peeled off back-to-back wins to move to 2-2. Caleb Williams, much like the other sophomore quarterbacks this season, is looking more comfortable and is finding their favourite targets.
Williams’ stats are night and day through his first four games compared to his rookie season. He averages 231 passing yards per game, he’s thrown for eight touchdowns, five of which are to Rome Odunze.
Back both of the Bears’ sophomores at FedExField.
My Bets:
- Washington Commanders 1-13 & Jacory Croskey-Merritt Anytime Touchdown @ $3.90
- Caleb Williams Over 234.5 Passing yards @ $1.88
- Rome Odunze Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $2.20
Each week, the Touchdown Factory opens up and provides four TD scorers for Monday’s games.
This is what’s being served up for Week 6:
- Marvin Harrison Jr. Anytime Touchdown @ $2.75
- George Pickens Anytime Touchdown @ $2.10
- Zach Charbonnet Anytime Touchdown @ $2.35
- Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime Touchdown @ $1.58
