NFL Week 3 Preview

NFL Week 3 Preview

We’re two weeks in the injury list is starting to pile up, especially in the quarterbacking department.

Joe Burrow (foot) has to undergo surgery for turf toe (worse than it sounds), which will sideline him for a minimum of three months. See ya Bengals playoff hopes, and my futures multis that had Burrow MVP and Chase Offensive Player of the Year.

J.J. McCarthy (ankle) has a high ankle sprain and is unlikely to play against the Bengals.

Jayden Daniels (knee) is day-to-day but unlikely to suit up against the Raiders.

Justin Fields (concussion) left the game in the fourth quarter and will likely sit this week, even if he does clear concussion protocol.

Brock Purdy (foot) is similar to Burrow, but is only expected to miss another few weeks with a variant of turf toe.

It’s not just QBs either, with a handful of injuries around the league on both sides of the ball.

Anyway, for Week 3, we have a fresh slate of games to tuck into.

Let’s do it! 👇

Buffalo Bills
vs
Miami Dolphins
Friday 12:15pm | Highmark Stadium, Buffalo
Buffalo Bills Winning Margin 14+ @ $2.00

The Dolphins travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills in prime time, and I’m wondering how long into this game will McDaniels be waiving the white flag…

The line is at -12.5 in favour of the Bills, and in all honesty, I don’t think that’s enough for the Dolphins to cover.

Their last five meetings have all ended in Bills W’s and followed the pattern of tight game, blowout, tight game, blowout, tight game… I wonder what this one will be!

While both quarterbacks can absolutely sling the rock, there are running backs on either side that have dominated.

James Cook and De’Von Achane.

With over 400+ total yards combined and five touchdowns, I’m expecting these two to be heavily involved once again.

Apart from Achane, the Dolphins’ offence is so hit or miss, and you never know if Tua is going to rock up and throw for 300+ yards and 3+ touchdowns or less than 150 yards and 2+ interceptions. At this point, it really is a coin toss.

Josh Allen hurt is nose on the weekend and let James Cook run the show. Provided he’s fit and ready to go, which he will be, I’d expect to see the reigning MVP take over the game like he did against the Ravens.

The only worry is if this is a blowout and he takes a seat in the fourth quarter.

My Bets:

  • Buffalo Bills Winning Margin 14+ @ $2.00
  • De’Von Achane / James Cook to have 2+ Touchdowns Combined @ $2.30
  • Josh Allen 250+ Passing Yards, 30+ Rushing Yards & Bills Win (betcha boost) @ $5.50

For our Thursday Night Football games this year, we have juiced up the offer on the TNF games. Now, if you place a 3+ leg SGM and it loses by any number of legs, you’ll get your stake back as bonus cash up to $25.

So without further ado…

My TNF Send it SGM @ $29.73

  • Bills -16.5
  • Bills Over 30.5 Total Points
  • Josh Allen Anytime Touchdown
  • Khalil Shakir Anytime Touchdown
  • Tyreek Hill Anytime Touchdown
Philadelphia Eagles
vs
Los Angeles Rams
Monday 5:00am | Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
Matthew Stafford to have 250+ Passing Yards @ $

The Eagles have gotten off to a hot start to their Super Bowl defence, beating the Cowboys and Chiefs in the first two weeks.

The Rams will be wanting some revenge after the Eagles knocked them off in the Divisional Round last year. That game was arguably the biggest challenge for the Eagles during their Super Bowl run.

The Rams are 2-0, knocking off the Texans in Week 1, followed by a 14-point win over the Titans.

Obviously, Puka Nacua is the star of the show, but step forward, Davante Adams, who has seemingly caught Stafford’s eye.

106 yards on 6 catches and a touchdown for the veteran receiver.

The Rams’ offence clicked into gear after a slow start in Week 1, but if you think back to that Divisional Round game last year, Stafford and Nacua lit up the Eagles’ secondary, and with Adams joining the crew, I think we’ll see a similar game plan.

Stafford threw for 324 yards in that game; he just threw 298 against the Titans last week. I think he’ll be up above 250 in this one.

I thought the Chiefs did a decent job of holding the Eagles’ offence to nearly nothing (216 yards of offence) and limiting Barkley to just 4 yards per carry.

This is an intriguing match-up and one I think the Rams might come out on top of.

My Bets:

  • Rams to Win @ $2.55
  • Matthew Stafford to have 250+ Passing Yards @ $
  • Puka Nacua & Davante Adams 150+ Receiving Yards @ $

If you’re taking all three as an SGM, that will give you $6.54

Los Angeles Chargers
vs
Denver Broncos
Monday 8:05am | SoFi Stadium Stadium, Los Angeles
Los Angeles Chargers -3 @ $2.00

Another divisional match-up for Harbaugh and the Chargers. A tough opening schedule, but they’ve got the chance to go 3-0 against their division after three weeks.

Bo Nix and the Broncos…how did they let that game slip?

I’d made the executive decision to give Nix one more week as my starter in fantasy and if he failed to deliver, he was gone. They may not have won, but at least he put some stats up and looked more like the QB everyone was making him out to be.

This will be a proper test from this Broncos side, and especially their defence. One that’s known to be one of the toughest in the league.

The Chargers are current favourites to win the AFC West and rightly so. Harbaugh has said his mission is to get Herbert into the Hall of Fame, and you do that by winning football games and putting up consistent numbers.

He’s made a living off exploiting secondaries, and yes, I know Patrick Surtain will be lurking back there but with all the weapons this Chargers side has, he can’t cover everyone.

He’s also been showing off his leg talent and I’ve got a feeling he may need to scramble around and potentially do it himself. (Justin Herbert legacy game inbound)

My Bets:

  • Chargers -3 @ $2.00
  • Justin Herbert Passing Yards Over 233.5 @ $1.88
  • Justin Herbert Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $5.50

If you’re taking all three as an SGM, that will give you $14.37

New York Giants
vs
Kansas City Chiefs
Monday 12:20pm | Metlife Stadium Stadium, New Jersey
Kansas City Chiefs -6.5 @ $1.90

We just talked about the Chargers starting 3-0, how about their division rivals, the Chiefs, starting 0-3?

I highly doubt that’s going to happen *touch wood. 2011 was the last time Kansas City were 0-3 to start the season.

Why do I doubt that’s going to happen?

Because they’re playing the 0-2 Giants. Russ really should’ve won in what was the game of the week in Arlington.

After unleashing Malik Nabers and showing off his moon ball, it ended up being their undoing in OT.

Xavier Worthy is questionable to play, but if cleared, he will be a huge addition to this offence, adding some much-needed athleticism.

Malik Nabers reminded everyone how good he is, hauling in nine catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns. The Chiefs’ secondary did struggle in Brazil, but locked down the Eagles’ pass catchers last week.

Despite the Chiefs’ secondary being a million times better than the Cowboys, which Russ faced last week, I think the Super Boost below is great value for both QBs to have 200+ Passing Yards.

My Bets:

  • Kansas City Chiefs -6.5 @ $1.90
  • Malik Nabers Under 76.5 Receiving Yards @ $1.88
  • Patrick Mahomes & Russell Wilson to have 200+ Passing Yards Each (Super Boost) @ $2.50
Baltimore Ravens
vs
Detroit Lions
Tuesday 12:15am | M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore
Derrick Henry Anytime Touchdown (Super Boost) @ $2.00

The Lions had a huge bounce-back win over the Bears and continue to dominate against the spread following a loss. This week, they’re going to be tested again under the lights in Baltimore.

If Dan Campbell and Jared Goff can head into Baltimore and come away with a win, that will go a long way to proving all the doubters wrong.

Derrick Henry, despite having 11 carries in the Ravens’ Week 2 blowout win over the Browns, had no impact on the game. I struggle to see how the King doesn’t have more of a say this week in Primetime.

He hasn’t played them as a Raven yet, but last time he did play the Lions, he recorded 147 yards on the ground on 24 attempts and a touchdown.

We’ve become used to these sorts of stat lines in the black and purple, and my best guess would be that the King wants to get back into his groove.

The Lions piled on the points against their division rivals last week, and St. Brown found himself dancing in the endzone not once, not twice, but three times. He had 9 catches for 115 yards and was Goff’s favourite target. Look for him to keep up that momentum, especially in a big-time game.

Here’s a niche one, but one I’m quite confident in and that is Justice Hill to go under his rushing yards of just 10.5!

Yes, it could be done in one flash, but I don’t expect him to get much usage. The Lions haven’t been great against the run so look for Henry to take over and Hill to take a back seat.

Sidenote: Hill’s only had five carries this season and has accumulated a grand total of -7 yards. Yes you read that correctly, -7 yards on the ground in two games.

My Bets:

  • Derrick Henry Anytime Touchdown (Super Boost) @ $2.00
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown Anytime Touchdown @$ 2.20
  • Justice Hill Under 10.5 Rushing Yards @ $1.88

If you’re taking all three as an SGM, that will give you $5.39

This is what’s being served up for Week 3:

  • Josh Jacobs Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $1.68

  • DK Metcalf Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $2.20
  • George Pickens Anytime Touchdown Scorer @ $2.20
