He also has track experience, having had a strong trial on August 28 over 800m at Ellerslie, where he finished a close second and was flying home late.

This exciting 3-year-old filly already has two wins to her name, including a narrow victory in the SkyCity Star Way Stakes, edging out Lady Iris and Too Sweet, both of whom she meets again this weekend. The 7-year-old mare returns fresh after a solid 2024/25 season. She has two strong trials under her belt from August, winning both over 900m and 1100m. Although her first-up record doesn’t suggest a win is likely, she’s definitely one to keep an eye on. The 1400m distance should suit her.

This 5-year-old gelding is looking to follow up from a strong win early last month over 1300m, plus two very good trials. He’s not the most experienced in the field, but I expect him to be there or thereabouts.
