NPC Round Four

NPC Round Four

How good were the Stags last night! They’ve now ground out two tough wins have found themselves in the top eight, with the rest of the round still to play of course.

The rest of the weekend is headlined by a massive clash between Hawke’s Bay and Canterbury and then of couse, the Ranfurly Shield challenge where Waikato take on Taranaki.

Let’s not waste and time and get into my best bets for this weekend 👇

Manawatu
vs
Wellington
Sunday, 4:35pm | Central Energy Trust Arena
Wellington 13+ | $2.00

Manawatu dropped to the Stags last week after a hot start. They looked gassed before the first half even ended. Meanwhile, the Lions went toe-to-toe with Otago in a game where neither team struggled to find the try line.

Wellington came out on the wrong side of that one, which means we get some extra value on their winning margin this week.

There is plenty of firepower in this Lions side, and they should be beating the Turbos quite convincingly.

Taranaki
vs
Waikato
Saturday, 2:05pm | Stadium Taranaki
Under 59.5 Total Points | $1.90

Taranaki lead the competition, and after pumping Auckland last weekend, this side will be flying. Especially the young first-five Josh Jacomb, who scored a hat-trick.

Waikato got away with a tight win over Counties Manukau. They’ve been up and down. This is going to be a much harder challenge than anything they’ve faced this season.

The line seems a touch inflated for me, based off the 50 points the Bulls scored last week, but in a shield challenge, I’d expect Waikato to put up a fight and not let it get too out of hand.

North Harbour
vs
Tasman
Saturday, 4:35pm | North Harbour Stadium
Value SGM | $6.85

Tasman have their maul ROLLING! And Tomasi Maka will get his first start for the Mako and will jump on the back of a lineout drive that has been very successful for Tasman.

Sofai Notoa-Tipa has taken his scoring chances when they’ve presented themselves and has two tries in his two starts for North Harbour.

Tasman have the ability to pile on the points, but North Harbour can help clear this total too, they’ve scored over 20 points in each game so far this season.

  • Over 61.5
  • Tomasi Maka Anytime Try Scorer
  • Sofai Notoa-Tipa Anytime Try Scorer
