2020/21 New Zealand Jockey Premiership winner Danielle Johnson has provided us with her top three to follow on Saturday, 21 June. Check them out below 👇
Bradley (#1) made up a lot of ground in quite a strong race last start indicating he is ready to leave maiden status. Ran 3rd in a strong 3yo race behind Prosegur and Acapelago on a heavy Tauranga surface earlier in the season. $2.50 no spoil but in a day where value is very hard to find, he looks a strong chance. Could have a saver on Fast Impact at $9.50. Comes out of the same race as Bradley last start where his effort was respectable. Should have finished a lot closer in the start prior at Matamata when the jockey was quite soft on him over the last 200 metres.
Midnight Scandal (#3) is a mare who looks on the way up whereas a few of her rivals are deep into their season. Impressive winning at Ellerslie last time and her record at Tauranga is two from two starts. Maps to be able to control the tempo, either leading or outside leader, and should then be able to find the right part of the track. Opening odds $4 now into $3.30.
What A Charma (#4) should have won at New Plymouth when narrowly missing Khama Suitsya after enduring a wide run. Meets Khama Suitsya a couple of kilos better off here and the favourite Quick Fire has to give him six kilograms. Quick Fire is flying but at the prices the scales were tipped towards What A Charma at $4.40 over Quick Fire at $2.80.Â
