Melbourne City who finished second in the league and qualified comfortably over two legs to make the final are favoured against the Victory who had to use all the tricks in the book to qualify over the Premiership Winners, Auckland FC.
For Melbourne City, they’ve got plenty of silverware in their cabinet but only one championship on their resume. Final’s footy has not been kind to them despite being one of the most dominating teams in the league for years.
Melbourne Victory have been turbulent over the last few years but since their inception they’ve managed four Championships a long with three Premierships.
So who lifts the trophy on Saturday night? Probably City but…
Given their recent history, despite what the bookies have it as, the Victory should be fairly confident given it’s been over two years since they lost to City.
Recent history would suggest that this game goes down to the wire. There has been late drama’s many of their recent meetings.
And for that reason, paired with what’s at stake my best bet for the final is for it to be all square come 90 minutes.
I think we’ll see goals. I don’t see this being a cagey affair because it’s a Grand Final. I think both sides will come out wanting to play their brand of football and put the pressure on.
