2024/25 A-League Round 23 Best Bets

With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, the race for the top spots is incredibly tight!

This weekend brings us another six A-League matchups, including a bottom-of-the-table showdown.

Let’s get into round 23 of the A-League season!

Adelaide United
vs
Macarthur FC
9:35pm, Friday | Coopers Stadium
Adelaide United to Win & Over 1.5 Goals | $1.73

Fifth-placed Adelaide hosts Macarthur on Friday night, and let’s be honest—the Bulls are in freefall.

With four losses in their last five, including a three-game skid, Macarthur don’t seem a chance to cause an upset here.

Adelaide are clearly the stronger side here. I’m just after slightly bit more value so have gone for the double market. No need to overcomplicate it.

Western Sydney Wanderers FC
vs
Melbourne Victory FC
9:35pm, Saturday | CommBank Stadium
Draw | $3.70

Saturday evening sees a tight contest. I can’t separate the two and neither can the bookies. A big part of that comes down to the Wanderers’ hot streak—three straight wins and four from their last five.

The Victory come off a 3-0 win over the Mariners but before then had back-to-back draws before and a tight 1-0 win.

In a pick’em game I like the draw.

Perth Glory
vs
Brisbane Roar
11:45pm, Saturday | HBF Park
Perth Glory to Win & Under 3.5 Goals | $3.90

The bottom of the table derby, Perth Glory hosting the Brisbane Roar.

This is one I won’t be rushing to watch but it’s hard to look past the Glory at home in a stinker.

Auckland FC
vs
Central Coast Mariners
5:00pm, Sunday | Go Media Stadium
Auckland FC -1 | $2.20

Even after back to back draws, the Black Knights are still six points clear at the top with a game in hand.

It’s back home for the Black Knights and they’ll want to start picking up momentum again ahead of the finals.

Central Coast were handed a 3-0 loss last week against the Victory and I see a similar sort of result coming their way this weekend.

Newcastle Jets
vs
Western United
7:00pm, Sunday | McDonald Jones Stadium
Western United to Win & Both Teams to Score | $3.40

Western United are sitting pretty in second place but you wouldn’t think so looking at the odds for this match up.

That’s due to the Jets being unbeaten in their last five games including three wins during that stretch.

Both teams are scoring and both teams are conceding reasonably consistently. So purely for value reasons, Western to win and both teams to score seems like the play in this one.

Sydney FC
vs
Wellington Phoenix
9:00pm, Sunday | Allianz Stadium
Sydney FC -1 | $2.00

Oh boy, if I were Chiefy and the Nix, I’d want this season to be over already and look ahead to the next one.

Their fall off has happened so drastically and has come at the worst time with Auckland taking the spotlight.

They’ve lost four on the trot, scored the second fewest goals in the league and if I’m honest, $6.40 for the win isn’t enough for me.

Sydney should handle this one reasonably comfortably, which pains me to say.
