Down the final stretch we go…
Auckland FC are eight points clear at the top and have the opportunity to make that a double digit lead this weekend.
The rest of the pack are tightly congested between 2nd and 8th as it’s still anyone’s for the taking.
Whoever’s taking it, I’m hoping I’ve got them on my bet slip.
The Phoenix were left licking their wounds after falling to Auckland FC 6-1 in the third Kiwi Derby of the year.
Losing all three derbies isn’t a great look for the Wellington side who head back home to take on Melbourne City.
City, on the other hand had a slightly more successful derby sharing the points with the Victory.
It feels pretty easy to go against the Phoenix who have constantly struggled this season.
Both Central Coast Mariners and Western United have shown attacking strengths and vulnerabilities in defence.
Their recent encounters have often resulted in goals from both sides. Given their offensive capabilities and defensive lapses, it’s likely that both teams will find the net in this fixture.
Central Coast were hammered last time out and I can’t see them having a bounce back result at home.
After taking care of business in the Kiwi derby for the third time this season, the Black Knights have gotten hot and sit eight points clear at the top.
You really can’t have asked for a better inaugural season till now.
Adelaide United are sitting in second place, but not by many after they got handed a demo job themselves. Going down 3-0 to the team that’s on their heels, Western United.
The Black Knights are four on the trot, still at home and on a roll.
Much like last week, Brisbane are the worst team in the comp.
Home or away it doesn’t matter. Whoever they’re playing, I’ll be backing the other side to win.
In this case it’s Melbourne Victory who should be walking away from Suncorp Stadium with three more points to their name.
Macarthur will be heading into this fixture without their skipper after he ditched them after having a cry about the refs.
Both of these sides sit just outside the top six adding extra motivation to this fixture.
Sydney have had a hectic schedule but after some R&R I’d expect them to get the job done.
Perth have been on the rise over the last couple of weeks earing a few draws and keeping the top teams at bay. They’re not conceding too many at the back, it’s just about taking their own chances in front of goal.
Western Sydney have started to hit their stride, after a great win last week they’ll be looking to build on that at home this Sunday.
Western Sydney should get the job done but I’d expect Perth to not go down without a fight.
