One to forget last week but we move. Although I’m taking credit for the Spurs loss, how good.
Game of the round is clearly Arsenal hosting Man City and if Arsenal don’t take three points from this I get the feeling Liverpool can almost lock away the title.
Locking in this week and looking to bounce back in a big way.
Both Nottingham and Brighton need to pick themselves ahead of this weeks fixture. The Trees return home this week which should give them a boost to keep pushing in their already historic season.
Brighton have made a habit of scoring while on the road with the exception of last weeks shock loss to Everton. Before then they were unbeaten across five road games.
I’m expecting a bounce back from Nottingham and hopefully a goal from the big man up top.
After putting five passed Nottingham last week, Bournemouth now have the challenge of hosting Liverpool who still lead the league but suffered a midweek Champions League loss on what was a dead rubber game for them essentially.
Back in the EPL, Liverpool have scored 17 goals in their last five away games and I don’t see this being any different. Last week we had Gakpo first goal scorer, he scored twice but not first so we’ll take him anytime this week as there should be plenty of chances falling Liverpool’s way.
Newcastle rattled three passed Southampton last week and made it seven wins from eight games, scoring 22 goals and conceding six. Kind of makes Bournemouth’s form even more impressive…
Last time they met Eddie Howe’s men did just enough to scrap the three points away from home.
Fulham will likely soak up the pressure and set up the counter attack but I don’t fancy their chances and keeping a rampant Magpies side at bay for 90 minutes.
I’m stoked to say I had Leicester or the draw last week when they took and Tottenham and they come away with the win so there should be some lifted spirits around the Foxes squad.
However they still remain in serious danger of the drop and manager Ruud van Nistlerooy will need to fire his troops up to get another win on the bounce.
Everton sit one spot higher than their opponents this week but have a six point gap and could extend that safety net this week with a win.
I’m putting my money with the inform forward for the Toffees to find the back of the net.
The Championship fixture between the bottom two who look almost set for the drop and will no doubt meet again in the lower level next season.
Ipswich have just come off facing Man City followed by Liverpool but now seems like a great chance to take some positives away from this weekend. They’ve conceded goals in 19 EPL fixtures this year, one of the main reasons they find themselves at the bottom of the pack.
Last time these two played out a 1-1 draw at St. Mary’s and I wouldn’t be surprised to see something similar.
I’ve just got a feeling about Villa this week. They stormed out to a 2-0 lead midweek but were made to fight for the result ending the match with a 4-2 win. They have struggled to back up their European fixtures and put out a performance in the prem.
After four consecutive defeats Wolves are in the bottom three. They could take advantage of no Matty Cash at right back and the lack of striking abitlity with the sole Ollie Watkins being the main man now that Jhon Duran is off to the SPL.
In saying this, Aston Villa impressed me during the week and for even money I’ll be taking them to win.
Man United have continued to struggle in the Premier League under Ruben Amorim but have seen some success in Europe. Following their 2-0 win over FCSB they should come into this match with some confidence.
Amorim is working out how he wants to build his team going forward and I think we’ll start to see some momentum swing United’s way.
The Eagles were on a five game unbeaten streak before their 2-1 loss to Brentford last time out. I don’t think they have what it takes to take points at Old Trafford.
It’s so hard to get behind Tottenham. As I said last week they win games they shouldn’t and lose games they have no business losing. That stood true last week as they fell short to Leicester.
Back-to-back away wins for the Bees puts them in good stead going forward and they’re back in front of a home crowd this week. They’re poor defensive record isn’t particularly eye-catching for this matchup but their dynamic attacking outweighs the poor defence in my mind.
This is a monumental clash for the Gunners. Their hopes to lift the Premier League trophy could be largely impacted by the results of this weekend.
It’s going to be an intense and physical showdown at the Emirates. Arteta’s men are going to need to put out a huge performance to take away the maximum points.
They came away with a 1-0 win after a controversial red card was shown to Miles Lewis-Skelly. That was since overturned and he’ll be eligible to play this weekend.
After taking care of Chelsea last week, Guardiola’s side has been given another boost with John Stones looking fit and ready to go. However, without Rodri they haven’t been able to control the big games as well as they would like and I think the Gunners can take advantage of that.
Graeme Potter returns to Stamford Bridge for the first time in the opposition dugout after leaving Chelsea in April 2023.
West Ham have just one win from their last six which came over Fulham a couple of weeks back.
Chelsea were embarrassed by City last week and have dropped out of the top four. If they can get back to their pre-Christmas form I have no doubt they’ll stay in the mix but if they keep turning up like they did last week then they’ll be lucky to finish in the top six.
I had Cole Palmer to score last week but he was shut out by his old club. This week I’m going to stick with him to bag one against his old manager.
