2024/25 A-League Round 17 Best Bets

Back to normal this week with the five games scheduled over Friday and Saturday. We’re on the downhill slide with every team having now played at least half of their games.

Auckland FC look to be back in business and leading the charge for the Premiership but Adelaide United are right behind them. With some new signings across the league I can’t wait to see how this second half of the season plays out. For the Roar, they finally did it. They’re off to a good start after picking up their first win of the season last week.

Just like Auckland FC, we’re looking to get back in business and go five for five with this weeks picks.

Brisbane Roar
vs
Western Sydney Wanderers
9:35pm Friday | Suncorp Stadium
Over 3.5 Total Goals | $2.20

After 12 straight games without a win, the Brisbane Roar are back home and have their eyes set on a two game winning streak. I wouldn’t count them out either because Western Sydney have been struggling as of late.

They’ve lost back to back games and are desperate for a result. With just one win in their last five, a loss to the Roar would see them slide further out of the top six.

The Roar still struggle to keep the ball out of their net so if they’re going to be in with a chance, they’re going to need to score plenty.

Auckland FC
vs
Macarthur FC
5:00pm Saturday | Go Media Stadium
Auckland FC to Win | $1.80

It’s time to say the Black Knights are back. After a dip in form through the new year period they’re back leading the pack after some late heroics with the team making a habit of scoring late goals.

Macarthur are trading wins and losses at the moment and after a win last week over Melbourne City, I see that trend continuing as they head to Auckland.

Sydney FC
vs
Adelaide United
7:00pm Saturday | Allianz Stadium
Over 2.5 Goals & Douglas Costa Anytime Goalscorer | $3.85

Adelaide United are cooking at the moment and could take advantage of a Sydney side that is under immense pressure to start producing results.

After handing the Roar their first win last week Sydney sit one point out of the top six.

The last time these two sides met, Adelaide controlled the match for 80 minutes leading 3-1 before Douglas Costa put his side on his back and scrapped a 3-3 draw.

Once again, I’m expecting goals but don’t like Sydney’s chances here as Adelaide have only one loss to their name this season.

Central Coast Mariners
vs
Newcastle Jets
9:35pm Saturday | Industree Group Stadium
Central Coast Mariners to Win | $2.00

The travelling Jets take on the Mariners with hopes of ending their six game losing streak in the F3 Derby.

The Mariners had the win during Unite Round and have decent enough form to consider backing them again in Round 17.

Newcastle have picked up just the one win from their last six fixtures and sit in the bottom three.

Perth Glory
vs
Melbourne Victory
11:45pm Saturday | HBF Park
Perth Glory or Draw | $2.75

We end the round with an interesting matchup between the Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory. Last week Arthur Diles earned his first win as head coach of the Victory. After three draws and three losses he’s finally got his side moving.

I’m still not convinced though and Perth Glory have the chance to show off five new signings who will be rearing to go and make a difference.

Their last meeting the Victory had a comfortable 2-0 win but I don’t see this fixture being as easy for them.
