Auckland FC handled business last round taking down the Wellington Phoenix in the Kiwi Derby meaning they are now 2-0 against eLLington.
Through seven weeks of football, Auckland are still the team to beat sitting at the top with maximum points.
Melbourne Victory have a rest this week which means there’s a great chance for teams to do some leapfrogging and move up the ladder.
The Mariners have struggled for consistency this year largely due to the fact of so much change around their squad. But they have gone and won their last two fixtures finding themselves sitting 7th on the table.
Adelaide though are in the midst of their best start to a campaign but they have not had a win against the Mariners for three games.
Central Coast at home, starting to find their feet and find their way into the top 6 for me.
After their loss in Auckland, the Nix need to get back to winning ways and they’ll get the chance to do it at home.
They host the Macarthur Bulls on Saturday at Sky Stadium. Kosta Barbarouses became the first person to score against AFC and he’s netted five goals in their last three meetings with Macarthur.
My only worry for the Nix is their confidence in their back line. They’ve looked a little shaky at times this season so I wouldn’t be surprised is Macarthur can put one past Josh Oluwayemi.
After losing 2-1 last week to Central Coast, Sydney’s star-studded cast are now 9 points off the pace.
Getting up over Western United hasn’t been the easiest of tasks for Sydney with their last fixtures ending 2-2, 4-2 and 3-3.
An eleven man Sydney team should be able to take all the points here, but who knows with these guys. Having received three red cards this season it seems like all they need to do is keep a full team on the field and they’ll be okay.
This one is very straight forward. Cellar-dwellers Brisbane Roar are yet to celebrate a win and only got their first point two games back after their 4-4 draw with Macarthur.
Western Sydney have been up and down before their bye, but they had a good 2-0 win before their break. They’ll be rested up and ready to serve Brisbane’s 6th loss of the season.
Perth Glory have not been much better than the Brisbane and only sit above them due to having played an extra game and scabbing a draw out of it.
They’ll face the Newcastle Jets who are sitting one point above them.
Both of these teams are desperate for a win but Perth should have extra motivation. They’re winless in their last 17 games and if they fail to produce the goods, they’ll equal the clubs worse ever run of 18 games without a win back in the 06, 07 season.
Their last five meetings in the A-League have all finished as 2-2 draw. You could back the 2-2 correct score market at $10 or take the draw at $3.70.
Is anyone going to be able to stop the Black Knights?
Auckland FC head off-shore for the second time this season, travelling to Melbourne to take on Melbourne City.
This is going to be a proper test for Auckland who have been playing great football, helped by their 25 thousand plus fans at home. Their confidence should be high after their derby win and I don’t see why they won’t be competitive over the ditch.
City will be missing their Socceroo wingers Mathew Leckie and Marco Tilio so I’m not confident they’ll be seeing a lot of productivity in the final third.
