Match week 11 gives us three games for the new year, the Mariners host Melbourne City on New Years Eve and then Auckland FC host Melbourne Victory for the first match of 2025.
Followed by Western Sydney Wanderers welcoming Macarthur who have snuck their way into the top four.
Just a short match week before a monster match week 12 with 9 games!
Central Coast were on the back end of an Auckland FC revenge game after the received their first loss. Unfortunately for the Mariners they could not compete with the top team in the league, and I don’t think they’ll be able to compete this week either.
Melbourne City are still one of the top teams despite sitting 6th in the league. Getting more than even money for a City win fresh off a bye is more than good enough for me.
Auckland FC are back in front of their home crowd to kick start the new year. After their first loss they bounced back well away from home beating the Mariners 4-1.
Melbourne Victory, however, won’t be as easy of a task. They could have jumped within two points of Auckland, but they went down convincingly to Sydney 3-0. They sit in third 5 points off the pace and the question is, what can they produce in the new year?
After not conceding in their first 6 games, the Black Knights have now conceded in 4 consecutive games.
Western Sydney have pulled off a couple nice wins in a row. Knocking off the Nix at home two weeks ago and now beating 2nd place Adelaide United thanks to a 82nd minute winner from Kraev.
Macarthur though have been in good form themselves dealing to Perth at their own stadium. They’ve been very up and down, struggling to find any consistency and I think that will be their undoing on New Years Day.
