Crazy to think we’re halfway through the NFL season already, with plenty more action still to come we have some juicy match-ups lined up for us this week.
Tight Ends absolutely balled out last week and on National Tight End day we saw record numbers across the league in touchdowns and receptions from the big fellas. Perhaps we can expect more of that this week?
We’re back with a couple teams on a bye, the Steelers have earned a well-deserved rest, and the 49ers also get to kick back this weekend.
Let’s see what we’ve got for this week’s slate.
The Jets are home favourites in this one which doesn’t feel quite right considering they have completely opposite records. Sitting at 2-6 the Jets have had one of the most disappointing seasons and are in must-win territory.
Yes there is no Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs but Joe Mixon is in career best form and Tank Dell is more than suitable to be the leading pass catcher.
The offensive power that the Jets have, they should be able to blow teams out of the water, but yet they could only manage 22 points against the Patriots. The Texans haven’t been putting up huge numbers either so I’m leaning towards the under in this primetime match-up.
The Jets have not won in their last five games and as much as they need a win here I just can’t say I’m that confident in them taking down the Texans.
My Bets
Houston Texans to Win @ $2.02
Under 42 Total Points @ $1.90
Garret Wilson / Tank Dell to Combine for 125+ Receiving Yards
Braelon Allen Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Tua came back last week but apparently that wasn’t enough to save the Dolphins offense. He’s going to have to face the music this week taking on Josh Allen and the Bills in Buffalo.
Josh Allen is playing unbelievable at the moment, he’s has thrown 14 touchdowns with just the one interception which seems to be the key difference for the Bills this year.
When Miami are firing they’re arguably the most exciting team in the league but unfortunately for Phins fans, the Bills were too good down in Miami last time and they’ll be too good again this week.
My Bets
Buffalo Bills -6 @ $1.90
James Cook to have 2+ Touchdowns
Jaylen Waddle Anytime Touchdown Scorer
This has to be the marquee match-up of the week, the Detroit Lions head to Lambeau Field for a fierce NFC North showdown with the Green Bay Packers.
Jordan Love had to exit the game last time out and we’re not sure if he is going to suit up to take on the Lions. It might not matter though because Dan Campbell and his team are cooking, they’re looking like the could be the best team in the league.
With a running back duo of Sonic and Knuckles, how could you not like the Lions. In games were both Gibbs and Montgomery have scored, the Lions are 7-0. I don’t see why both of them can’t find the endzone again this weekend and walk away with a win.
My Bets
Detroit Lions -3.5 @ $1.94
Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime Touchdown Scorer
David Montgomery Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Anthony Richardson, after tapping out against the Texans has been told to hit the bench with vet, Joe Flacco stepping back in to the run the show. Josh Downs is one who will benefit from this. After a career day last week, Downs has been a great option for the Colts when Flacco is under centre.
Last week the Vikings were shafted by the refs who missed a facemask in the final two minutes. You’d think this week they’d love to keep it out of reach so the refs can’t interfere.
I think Sam Darnold should attack a secondary that just won’t be able to stop Justin Jefferson or any other of their down field receivers.
My Bets
Minnesota Vikings -5.5 @ $1.94
Sam Darnold to have 250+ Passing Yards
Justin Jefferson Anytime Touchdown Scorer
To wrap things up, Baker and the Bucs head to Arrowhead to see if they can be the first team to take down the Chiefs.
Losing both Evans and Godwin was quite possibly the worst thing that could’ve happened for Tampa but they were still able to hang around with the Falcons despite the loss.
The Chiefs are the definition of find a way to win, Pat Mahomes has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns but they’re still undefeated. They’re yet to blow a team out of the water and I don’t see that happening anytime soon with their depleted offense.
Guys have stepped up though, in particular Kareem Hunt who has four touchdowns in just as many games.
My Bets
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +9 @ $1.90
Kareem Hunt Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Baker Mayfield to have 2+ Passing Touchdowns
There’s not a whole lot I like across the rest of the slate but here’s a stat for you nuffies out there. If you have just played the Detroit Lions, you will lose the following week.
- Rams lost to the Cards
- Buccaneers lost to the Broncos
- Cardinals lost to the Commanders
- Seahawks lost to the Giants
- Vikings lost to the Rams
Last week the Titans got battered by the Lions, this week, they’re favourites against the Patriots who just upset the Jets. Drake Maye might be out but I’m riding with this trend…
