Premier League Best Bets | Match Week 6

Premier League Best Bets | Match Week 6

A drama filled finish to the match week 5 as emotions boiled over at the Etihad in the 97th minute. John Stones poked one past David Raya to clinch a point in a match where they attacked for the full second half. Plenty of comments on both sides have followed, feeding into this rivalry at the top of the table. Something we all love to see.

The action rolls into match week 6 with another huge weekend of football, our best bets we’re pretty spot on last weekend, let’s see who we’re backing for this week.

Newcastle United
vs
Manchester City
11:30pm, Saturday 28 September | St James’ Park
Man City Halftime / Fulltime Double | $2.40
Newcastle 1 – 1 Man City

We get underway in Newcastle where recent history hasn’t been too kind to the Magpies when facing the reigning champs. Man City dropped their first points of the campaign after a 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal.

They’ll be eager to get back to their winning ways and although Newcastle are a top 6 team, Man City have gotten the better of them winning 10 of their last 12 meetings. The halftime/fulltime double has been kind to us, especially when we back City. They usually score first and hold onto that lead until the final whistle.

Chelsea
vs
Brighton & Hove Albion
2:00am, Sunday 29 September | Stamford Bridge
Nicolas Jackson Anytime Goalscorer | $2.35
Chelsea 4 – 2 Brighton

Chelsea will look to make it for straight wins across all competitions, they’re unbeaten at Stanford bridge in cup competitions, however they are yet to record a win in either of their first two league home games.

Brighton will be looking to take their unbeaten streak to six. Despite their unbeaten start, they have drawn their last three. I think Chelsea get their first home win of the Premier League season thanks to their inform goal scorers.

Nico Jackson now has six G/A in five Premier League fixtures, and I think he carries on his form and can find the back of the net again this week.

Everton
vs
Crystal Palace
2:00am, Sunday 29 September | Goodison Park
Crystal Palace to Win | $2.50
Everton 2 – 1 Crystal Palace

Everton recorded their first point of the campaign after a 1-1 draw with Leicester. They’ll see this fixture as a winnable one but I wouldn’t be surprised if fans think otherwise. I don’t think I’ll be backing the Toffees until I see them close out a match with their lead intact.

Crystal Palace are eyeing up their first win as well after three consecutive draws. They do seem to be the more exciting team here and this could be just what the doctor ordered for Palace.

Arsenal
vs
Leicester City
2:00am, Sunday 29 September | Emirates Stadium
Arsenal to Win & Both Teams to Score: No | $1.77
Arsenal 4 – 2 Leicester City

Arsenal showed some real heart to withstand the Man City onslaught right up until the last kick of the game. The consensus leaving the Etihad was that they are right in this title race. They’ll be looking to grab 3 points back at home this weekend and keep 11 guys on the field.

Leicester are still struggling to get back into the swing of things in the Prem and they’re still a heap of fun to watch, but Arsenal’s defensive line is quality and they should be able to grab another clean sheet win this weekend.

Brentford
vs
West Ham United
2:00am, Sunday 29 September | Gtech Community Stadium
Brentford or Draw & Both Teams to Score | $2.10
Brentford 1 – 1 West Ham

Brentford at home should be able to earn their third win of the season this week in front of a home crowd. They’ve had an up and down start to the season, but to be fair to them, their losses have come to Man City and Spurs.

I’m throwing in the double chance as a bit of insurance but, if there is one thing this match up promises, it is goals. These teams have conceded 9 goals apiece through five games, while scoring a combined 12 goals.

Nottingham Forest
vs
Fulham
2:00am, Sunday 29 September | City Ground
Fulham or Draw & Both Teams to Score | $2.66
Nottingham Forest 0 – 1 Fulham

Fulham introduced themselves last week after a dominant win over Newcastle and now bode a four game unbeaten streak.

Forest are no pushovers though, they’ve beaten Liverpool and nutted out a 2-2 draw to Brighton.

Only one point separates these two teams on the table and you could make an argument for both sides. Forest are the betting favourites here

Wolverhampton Wanderers
vs
Liverpool
4:30am, Sunday 29 September | Molineux Stadium
Liverpool to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 | $3.30
Wolves 1 – 2 Liverpool

Liverpool are clear favourites heading into this one on the road having only conceded one goal through the first five weeks. For all their attacking talent, it’s their defence that has been the standout.

No other team has a longer run than Wolves without a clean sheet. They’ll head into this one conceding at least one goal in their last 17 top-flight fixtures. History isn’t on their side either losing 14 of their last 15 fixtures against the Reds.

Ipswich Town
vs
Aston Villa
1:00am, Monday 30 September | Portman Road
Aston Villa or Draw & Both Teams to Score | $2.10

Aston Villa have been amongst the goals through the opening weeks of the season. Both teams have scored in four of their last five games across all competitions and I don’t see that changing this week.

The Tractor Boys are starting to find their feet, drawing their last three fixtures. Omari Hutchinson poses a constant threat to the oppositions goal and will be putting pressure on the Villa backline.

I see Villa winning this one but I do think Ipswich have a chance at securing their fourth draw on the trot.

Manchester United
vs
Tottenham Hotspur
3:30am, Monday 30 September | Old Trafford
Man United or Draw & Both Teams to Score | $2.00

Tottenham have only won at Old Trafford four times in the last 31 years! Despite Man Utd and all their struggles I think their homefield advantage will come into play here and at worst, record a draw. Which wouldn’t be a terrible result for United.

Both teams are very unpredictable but both teams leak goals, especially when playing each other, their last meeting ended in a 2-2 draw.

AFC Bournemouth
vs
Southampton FC
7:00am, Tuesday 1 October | Vitality Stadium
Bournemouth to Win & Both Teams to Score: No | $3.10

Having lost their last two fixtures Bournemouth are desperate for a win and at home against a bottom three team, they should be able to get one.

Southampton have not looked good and have failed to keep a clean sheet all season. In saying that, neither teams have picked up clean sheets, but I’m backing Bournemouth to keep it tidy at the back against a team that’s low on confidence.
