2024 NFL Week 2 Best Bets

2024 NFL Week 2 Best Bets

Week one is officially in the books! The Browns suck, Marvin Harrison Jr will smash his line if Kyler Murray throws him the ball, and the rest of the NFL should be scared because Andy Reid and the Chiefs introduced their new toy for the season in the form of Xavier Worthy.

As great as it was to have football back, there were a lot of disappointing personal performances over the weekend. Amon-Ra St Brown forget he was an All-Pro receiver, Travis Kelce decided he is now a blocking tight end, and Caleb Williams found out how hard it is to throw on the run against an NFL defence.

My ‘Send It Multi’ on the Chiefs game came close, so we will have to run it back and see if we can hit one of these for week two.

We were pretty accurate with our Over/Under Total Points picks but this week, I’m backing the spreads.

Three primetime games, and a game from both the early and late slates on Monday morning… Let’s see what we’ve got!

Miami Dolphins
vs
Buffalo Bills
Hard Rock Stadium, Miami | Friday 12:15pm
Dolphins 10 – 31 Bills

TNF takes us to Miami where Josh Allen and the Bills are going to have to deal with one of the most electrifying offenses in the league, however, both teams are coming off a short week and will be playing in 30 degree heat which makes me wonder if we will see

The Bills were down by 14 points last week but Josh Allen continues to find ways to win, even with limited pass catching options.

The Dolphins also faced a 14 point deficit before turning things around and getting the better of the Jaguars. Although the run game never really got going Tua and the boys didn’t miss a beat even after the fastest man in the NFL Tyreek was detained three hours before kick-off, ironically for speeding.

If the cops can’t stop Tyreek then why would anyone else be able to? I think he finds the endzone again here on primetime.

I’m big on the Dolphins here and I think they cover the -2.5 spread. Tua smashed his passing line last week throwing for 338 yards. This week against this Bills secondary I think he can do it again.

My bets:

  • Tyreek Hill Anytime Touchdown Scorer
  • Dolphins -2.5
  • Tua Tagovailoa Over 265.5 Passing Yards

Send it SGM: $44.05

  • Over 49 Total Points
  • Josh Allen Anytime Touchdown Scorer
  • De’Von Achane Anytime Touchdown Scorer
  • Tyreek Hill First, Second or Third Touchdown Scorer
  • De’Von Achance 30+ Receiving Yards
  • Josh Allen Over 248.5 Passing Yards
Detroit Lions
vs
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Ford Field, Detroit | Monday 5:00am
Lions 16 – 20 Buccaneers

The Detroit Lions are back at home after fighting off a second half surge from Matthew Stafford and the Rams who forced them to OT. The overtime rules will forever be questioned unless you’re on the winning side of it, and Detroit fans won’t be complaining.

What they would be complaining about though is the fact their star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown forgot he had a football game to play. Against an already banged up Tampa Bay secondary I’m expecting St. Brown to bounce back in a big way.

Baker turning out better than Deshaun Watson is only something that could happen to the Browns and I’m happy for Baker. He is a competitor and led the Bucs to a great first up win over Washington, throwing four touchdowns in the process.

A tougher matchup for both teams here and I think Tampa are undervalued at +7.5, the Lions will be good enough to get the job done at home but I like Baker and the Bucs to cover.

Although their offence looks good, the Bucs defence may have some headaches, not only with Amon-Ra, but the emergence of Jameson Williams as well which will open up opportunities elsewhere. Jared Goff loved his rookie tight end Sam LaPorta last year, scoring 10 touchdowns for the season. I think there will be a good chance the big man finds the endzone this week.

My bets:

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown Over 80.5 Receiving Yards
  • Buccaneers +7.5
  • Sam LaPorta Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Kansas City Chiefs
vs
Cincinnati Bengals
Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City | Monday 8:25am

The Chiefs started the quest for three on the trot with a win thanks to Isaiah Likley’s big toe. The reigning MVP had chances to tie the game but wasn’t accurate enough. The first game of the NFL season already felt like a play-off game, and I expect we may see these two come face to face again come January.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals however couldn’t get any type of offense rolling against the Patriots. Rhamondre Stevenson dominated that game on the ground rushing for 126 yards and touchdown behind a mid O-Line.

If Stevenson can put up those numbers I think Pacheco could find similar success. I have him for 60+ yards on the ground. If Andy Reid establishes the run early with Pacheco that should free up Mahomes and his receivers to have some fun.

‘Burrowhead my ass’ Travis Kelce and the Chiefs didn’t take a liking to Cincy’s fans nickname for Arrowhead as Joe Burrow held a 3-0 record against Mahomes. The Chiefs took care of that AFC championship game and I expect them to be too good for this Bengals side that doesn’t have the same aura as they once did.

If Ja’Marr Chase really wants that contact, then this would be a good opportunity for him to show up, yes the Chiefs defence is good but I think as a top three receiver in the league he should be able to go for at least 80+ yards.

My bets:

  • Isiah Pacheco 60+ Rushing Yards
  • Chiefs -5.5
  • Ja’Marr Chase 80+ Receiving Yards
Houston Texans
vs
Chicago Bears
NRG Stadium, Houston | Monday 12:20pm

The reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J Stroud will host this year’s hopeful, Caleb Williams on primetime television.

It’s fair to say Caleb Williams welcome to the NFL was underwhelming as he threw for less than 100 yards and found out how hard scrambling against a full blown NFL defence actually is.

Both of these offenses are loaded with talent, C.J Stroud, Nico Collins and Tank Dell all in their second year with added veterans Stefon Diggs who had two touchdowns in his Texans debut and ex Cincy running back Joe Mixon who also found the endzone. Seen as anyone of these weapons are redzone threats, lets make use of the touchdown combo markets… I like Mixon and Nico Collins to combine for two touchdowns.

Despite scoring ZERO offensive touchdowns the Bears pulled off a 17 point comeback win against the Titans, which says more about the Titans than the Bears. Now that the first game jitters are gone, I think the Bears will put some points up, in what could turn out to be a shootout.

The Chicago defence was the star of the show last week but that won’t be the case this week. Stroud won’t make those same mistakes and there is too much fire power on this offense for the Texans not to cover the -6 spread.

My bets:

  • Joe Mixon and Nico Collins to combine for 2+ Touchdowns
  • Over 45.5 Total Points
  • Texans -6
Philadelphia Eagles
vs
Atlanta Falcons
Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia | Tuesday 12:20pm

The Eagles are back after their long flight home from Brazil, not only celebrating a win but also the fact they have an absolute stud in Saquon Barkley who scored not once, not twice, but three times in Sao Paulo.

The good version of Kirk Cousins is still a stranger to the 2024 season and he will need a bounce back game if he wants to quiet down the whispers calling for their rookie qb Michael Penix Jr.

The Falcons were able to contain Najee Harris to just 70 yards on 20 attempts, however Saquon Barkley is different gravy. He was a money maker for us last week so let’s stick with him to go over his rushing yards again, and find the endzone.

Fantasy managers won’t be happy with Drake London’s two catches for 15 yards last week but they could be in for a treat as he will face a secondary that gave up 171 yards to Jayden Reed. I think Kirk on a bounce back game will look to target his wide receiver one, seeing him surpass his receiving line.

My bets:

  • Saquon Barkley Over 65.5 Rushing Yards
  • Saquon Barkley Anytime Touchdown Scorer
  • Drake London Over 62.5 Receiving Yards

In other news, if Anthony Richardson can stay healthy, the Colts will be great, I can see the dual-threat quarterback finding the endzone himself again this week against Green Bay. It looks like Jayden Daniels might just be a fantasy star as he racked up the points with two rushing touchdowns and one through the air.

Now Marvin Harrison Jr may have not been involved all too much in week one, but the signs are there (apart from Kyler Murray saying it’s not his job to get him the ball???) I think Kyler will have more of an eye for Marv this week, so I’m ready to see him announce himself to the entire NFL.

Let’s hope to see some more green ticks this weekend!
