Snow In May is a promising young filly having her second race for John O’Shea. She won her first race at Wagga in May, finishing strong to win by over a length. After a break, she’s had two good trials and seems ready for a strong season. If she gets a good position in the race, she’ll be hard to beat.
I’m keen to have an each-way bet on Utopian Wine in this open race. Chris Waller’s mare by Pierro doesn’t win often, but she ran a solid third on the Kensington track a couple of weeks ago after a four-week break. She was stepping up to 1800m that day, so there’s room for improvement with a shorter turnaround this time. On a dry track and from a good low gate, expect her to settle back off the pace and finish strong.
Noble Conqueror, with James McDonald now on board, is aiming to build on three straight placings. This race should be slightly easier for Chris Waller’s gelding after just missing out at Rosehill last start. Although his form has varied over longer distances near the mile, he seems ready for the step up in distance. With a good draw, expect him to settle back in the field, and the dry track should suit him better after racing on rain-affected ground recently.
