Don’t Call Me Honey is a strong contender in this competitive race. The four-year-old had a tough break last time, finishing strong despite being squeezed between other horses. With a bit of luck and improvement from that run, he could be a real threat, even from a wide starting position.
Manaal is making her first appearance since the autumn, where she finished just outside the top spots in the Champagne Stakes. Michael Freedman’s filly is already a Group 1 winner after just six races, having won the Inglis Sires’ over 1400m on a wet track in April. She performs well when fresh, has good form against horses like Broadsiding and Lady Of Camelot, and looked impressive winning a recent trial at Warwick Farm.
Joliestar looks promising in the Show Country Quality. Despite the race being highly competitive, this lightly-raced four-year-old has impressed in her short career, winning the Thousand Guineas last year and the Arrowfield Sprint in the autumn. She has a powerful finishing kick, and her recent trial performances have been very impressive.
Semana is a value pick in the Winx Stakes. This daughter of Winning Rupert has performed well in tough races over the past six months, including a strong finish against Bella Nipotina in the Tatt’s Tiara at Eagle Farm. She also placed third in the Queen Of The Turf behind Zougotcha during the autumn and usually performs well when fresh. After a solid trial win and a good draw, she’s definitely worth considering for an each-way bet.
