Tarpaulin looks the strongest contender after a well-supported second-up win at Warwick Farm.
The Godolphin colt took his maiden by 2.3 lengths when Zac Lloyd gave him the go-ahead from a three-wide position.
The main concern is the drop to 1100m, but a wet track and a low gate are positives for him.
The four-year-old from Gerald Ryan is not a frequent winner but came close last week at Kensington, finishing within two lengths of the smart Little Cointreau after a five-week break.
Though he’s placed only once over a mile, he has performed well at Randwick and handles rain-affected tracks well.
The Encryption colt had a slow start at Caulfield and then finished a fighting third in the Listed Creswick Sprint.
His two previous Sydney wins are solid form for this race, especially if it rains.
He’s well-placed at the weights, has a good draw, and could add to Godolphin’s success if all goes to plan.
